Hi All has anyone tried the new Bridgestone Battlax T30 GT SPORTS TOURING

It's a new tyre and it looks as if it's based on the BT23 GT spec tyre which I have just fitted to my 1100. Wondering if it will come in an 1100 rear end or not.

Just had a look.

The site shows the correct sizes for the 1100 ABS - I also wonder if we will see them here in Australia. Nothing mentioned about durability.

Seems like they come in the standard sizes as well. Great to see another 160/70 rear might be available at last, as well as the 110/80 front for the standard bikes. Did not take long for the 023 to be outdated!

I found them at BALMAIN MOTORCYCLES in Sydney and was quoted $610 for 120/170 so I wont be trying a set for a while.

My local tyre shop quoted me $200 for front T 30, I will have to make sure its 110/80.

110/80-18 is the normal front tyre on standard ST11s, as well as earlier ABS. Has been since the ST1100 came out. I don't know where it comes from, as Honda decided that!

120/70-18 is on later ABS ST1100s as well as ST1300s.

Well there ya go...never knew that. Have only ever seen a 70 on the front of early ST's, not that I made it a thing to be concsious of mind you.

So, another piece of ST info for the grey matter to muse without any practical application for moi'

On another subject...has the new ride rolled up yet? Was up at Lawrance St. yesterday (needed a radiator cap), anyway couldn't let the chance of a trye kick go by and eyed an ST sprint with all luggage attached...

But not the same effect on the loins as the 675R aloneside it...drifted off imagining an aftermaket exhaust, flipped shift with clutchless elect retard change, some of the nice windy roads Barry has recently taken me over, 13-14k on the tach, no ear plugs and just listening to its music...Cor!!!

Don't know when as yet. I know what you mean about the 675R...what a brilliant looking bike, and by all accounts more like a track bike suspension wise, but who cares when you are having fun.

From what I have heard on other bike forums, the GT version of the angel should be up there for tyre life with the Michelin PR3s with similar grip etc. The ST version of the angel seems a quite ok tyre, but life is less than that of the Michelin PR2 and PR3.

That Pirelli promo is pretty impressive.
The aircraft carrier aspect is pure theatre,for fun. But the track work was impressive.

South Africa has 50 million people. Australia has 23 million. I'm guessing half the population of SA might have a similar standard of living to Australia.
So how can they have a dedicated Bike Show and not us? The closest we've come is the little amateur show on the Community Channel that has hand-held cameras and pretty basic stories.

G'day all, just bought myself a set T30's 3 months ago.
I nice smooth ride and so far feels as though plenty of grip. The rubber itself feels a little soft a specially after they have warmed up following a ride so I am a little concerned about longevity but I prefer grip over longevity anyway so a fair trade I think, especially if some clown pulls out in front of me. There like that here in Perth.
One thing though, did a 4hr round trip with both me and the missus on the back and found a bit of shredding for lack of a better word on the rear. (Looked like I had done a couple of laps around Barbagallo on race slicks)
Bought mine from West Coast Honda, front $164, rear $210 but they did have a special on at the time.

It will be interesting to see how long they last. I hope Bridgestone has not gone backwards yet again as the BT023s seemed quite ok.

I don't know much about the Bridgestone T30 yet but what I have read suggests it more of a touring tyre so one would expect better mileage than the BT23 tyre but only time will tell.

So far my BT23 GT spec tyres seem to be ok. 4000 kms on the front and no noticeable wear. The rear has 3000kms up and shows more wear than the front but that's to be expected and it is a 170/60 BT 23 GT spec tyre for a 1300 so I'm watching this one to see how it compares to the OEM tyre. The GT spec is for heavy tourers and is supposedly better than the standard BT23.

Just fitted T30's it had Z6's when I bought the bike (badly worn either side of centre) low pressure ????
I had rung around Bunbury for pricing Z6 approx. $475 plus $120 to fit & BT23 $516 fitted
The bike shop (Mandurah City Yamaha) suggested T30 $455 F/R fitted 110/80 & 160/70
So an 80 klm ride and new hoops fitted
I've only done a couple hundred K's so far, certainly steers a lot better.
Will definitely keep on top of pressures.

Anyone got any reasonable miles on a set yet

Have just bought a T30 GT for the rear of the ST1300 in Adelaide, cost was $288 fited, + $3 old tyre disposal. Will be heading back home to Canberra on Saturday . . . See how they go in comparison to the Dunlop Roadsmart 2's.

So far all good - plenty of grip dry road, very good stability.
I haven't played in the rain yet but it's not far away by the looks of it.
Keeping pressures 38F / 42R two up

I bought some T30 tyres from JW in the US yesterday (20/06/2014) plus the Dyna Beads for a delivered cost of $AUD328 which is about the cost for one tyre over here so it's more like the front is free.

After three sets of BT-23's and one set of BT-23 GT spec tyre (1300 Rear) I thought I'd give the new T30 tyre a go and as before in GT spec which meant a 1300 rear. I really wanted the new PR4 but brake pads are due and limited funds so I stayed with the Bridgestone for this time.

Hey Alan, how many dyna beads did you get and did you get any valves I couldn't find any.

My checkout total with 3 oz dyna beads is about $313.00

I got the refill packs so, 1 x 1 ounce (front) and 1 x 2 ounce (rear) as I bought the whole kit on my first tyre purchase which had enough for two or three sets of tyres.

As for valves I use standard valves as fitted by my local tyre dealer. I did purchase some right angle screw on valves (off of E-Bay) which I use if I need to check air while away from home.

I'm not sure if the beads do anything or not and since my tyre dealer can't balance bike wheels the beads seem a better option over nothing at all.
