1300 Spare globes
« on: March 03, 2019, 07:18:33 PM »
I have been looking for some spare globes for the 1300 and found these for the stop/tail. 1300 wasn't listed but the 1800 'wing was

https://auxito.com/products/7443-14k-black-r2?rq=yr_2010~mk_honda~md_gl1800a-gold-wing-abs

and these for the front  https://auxito.com/products/t10-24h-black-w2?rq=yr_2004~mk_honda~md_gl1800a-gold-wing-abs

There is a local EBay seller and for the four globes it will cost about $30

Had to correct the Stop/Tail globe link as I put the wrong one up

After contacting the supplier I bought these for the stop/tail to either replace or keep as spares for the current bulbs.

Hi, thanks for your contacting. Here is the difference of the 2 LEDs:

Stop-Tail 1: 14pcs 3030 red LED chips, output red color. Can be used in transparent lamp assemblies as stop tail light. Better quality with brelliant red.

Stop-Tail 2: 48pcs 4014 white SMD, output white color. If you want this one use as tail light, your lamp assemblies should be red. More bright with white color

This one was priced a little cheaper and meant for a coloured lens where the one in the previous post is meant for a clear lens.

Included in the purchase were the small LED bulbs to replace the so called parking lights

Total price for was $22.61 from https://www.ebay.com.au/str/eak44

The LED Globes arrived on Friday and I just fitted them a few minutes ago.

Not sure how long the other globes were in but I couldn't turn the plug so I grabbed a pair of needle noise pliers and gently added a bit more leverage to the plug and it moved enough to complete the task with just my fingers.

The package had signs of damage in transit and I took a pictures just in case a globe failed when fitted.

A little longer than the OEM globes as the tape indicates.

And looking at the rearward facing LED cluster

The issue I might have had fitting was the globe position in the socket as there is no way to tell which side is positive until it's tested in place. Turns out that it's a non issue and the globe works correctly regardless of which way it is placed in the plug. Info on the website hints that for some globes to work properly they may need to be turned around and some will work regardless.

The RH globe fitted and compared to the LH OEM globe with just the tail lights on. RH side is a lot brighter with the LH barely visible

Then I asked Heather to operate the brake light and the whole RH lens lights up a little brighter than the LH one. Fitted the LH side and replaced the mudguard and side cases, took the mileage for the log book and she's ready to roll.

While looking for some LED stop/tail lights for the car I noticed an anti-hyper flash LED Indicator globe with a BA 15 S base and they are also available in T20 wedge spec which would suit the 1300 and perhaps do away with the need to get a new flasher relay.

It also turns out that the 5W Led wedge that some (I have but not yet installed) might have put in the 1300 headlight unit fits the upper tail light and parking lights on our territory.
