Folks, after much effort, here is a simplified wiring diagram for the ST1100P, it should even apply to the 1300, except for switch 6.

So for those who have this advanced bike, this will help find switches that can control the spotties, heated grips (Siren n strobes).
I will put this into a better format and save it as a PDF and load to Dropbox for sharing later.

Certainly easier to follow than the Honda wiring diagram. I should really rewire my bike as those relays are going to waste at the moment.

Those relays Saaz, are on as soon as the ignition is switched on, providing two two 10amp switched power sources in the rear wiring clusters. makes powering of the intercom systems easy. One of the switched power lines can be controlled by the 5 switch, click it out and power is off (I would prefer it if the switch operated the relay but. It would take a bit of time to do that tho, and it would be a fidly job.

Good on ya Brock...............if this is the simplified version I'd hate to view the un-simplified one.
I could spend all day looking at it mate and it still wouldn't mean anything to me!! I'm in awe of auto electricians and those who aren't, yet can still read and understand double dutch!! :crazy

I originally looked at using the relays but the way they are powered is the wrong way around and would have needed some modifying. I will add it to my list of things to do later...

Just starting this one up again. Has anybody sourced the alternate plug ends for the connectors so we can have a neat connection point and use all the switches available on the bars and if so where. :CB-- :grin

You also need a special crimping tool for the pins. A suitable one can be found in jaycar, or I can bring mine along some time and do it for you

Thanks Brock. Minimum cost is $20 which will be about 10 sets. I may look at wreckers for same or car. I have used Narva dual and 4 pin plugs.

Brock I was looking at utilizing the switches on the P bars for auxillary power on off with ignition. The six and nine plugs were the obvious using the relays etc. I need to look at the bike again while I am putting new headlight globes in thanks to Yorkie noticing only one low beam. I will tap into the highbeam wire for future spotties and thought about running wiring for the shelf power. I have also put an interior light in the top box and i feel more confident if they are all off with ignition. This saves me pulling the farings off again. Thanks again :thumbsup

Do you happen to know about the police key immobilizer system on the left hand side that needs to be on for the bike to start with the main ignition key? I'm wondering how simple it is to eliminate this on my bike as I don't necessarily want to carry two keys for the bike all the time. I'm assuming I can earth two of the several wires behind there to eliminate it?

Dave, its very simple.remove the left side panel, and have a look at the forward bottom. You should see the wiring from the side stand switch. The green wire above the plug, shuold have a bullet connector in it with wire that run off up to the switch. Simply unplug the extra wires, and reconnect the green wires together.
Thats it, job done. I think the other wires run off to the fan to turn it on to keep the engine cool.

Dave, normally the key lock for the Engine RunLock system is disabled and removed prior to the police selling the bike, mine was, I removed the lock and installed a 12v accessory power point, just about fits the hole.

Yeah all the bikes I looked at had it removed / blanked. This one I recently bought had the original setup still there, definitely requires the key to engage gear or it just stalls.

Do you want to keep it? if you dont want it, i'll take it off you for my bike, even give you a accessory socket to fill the space.

Hi Brock,
Just a quick couple of questions. Looking at the police wiring diagram, if I want to use switch 4 to manually turn something on like the radiator fans for instance.
It seems the switch simply apears on the 9 pin conector. So if thats the case buying the 9 pin 110 style connector from Eastern Beaver should allow me to utilize the switch. Is that correct?

Hi Diesel, No its not but thanks for the help. I have reposted a section of the previous, under the deleted post header. Once Totgas helped me confirm that my 9 pin connector was standard, I came to the conclusion that we just need to change a drawing to get it 100%. Man I hope I have it right ... otherwise ... its so easy to get cross eyed.

Has the wiring diagram in post been moved? The thread shows it as unavailable where it should be. Is it the same one as in the led topic?
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!
I am trying to wire spotlights into switch 1 on the st1100p; and trying to work out which of the 3 connectors I should be using?
I think there’s an orange/pink colour; a blue; and a yellow connector under the dash that look to be for these switches looking in the manual.
Where do i connect the earth lead on the lights to?
