Resin Badges for the 1300 and the 1100
« on: March 06, 2012, 06:54:39 AM »
Here are 'photos' of the badges. One is a photoshop one for the 1100 (sample badges haven't
arrived yet) and the other is the actual 1300 badge fitted to my bike. Looking for thoughts. Thinking that they should all be chrome under resin with black outlining to go with any colour - even white.

These are the detail shots.

I’m now happy that the resin cowl badges will do the job just fine.

The badges for both machines will normally be formatted like the proof image posted here and versions for the ST1300 and the ST1100 will be in stock in about two weeks time.

When stocks arrive the badges will go onto ebay alongside the pannier badges. The intitial stock will be 120 ship sets of two badges per set.

Following the prototypes trial, the black outlining to all characters will be made slightly thicker to gain better definition and the arms of the ‘3’ will better match the stock decal by being slightly thicker than in the prototype in the photo. The ‘ST’ outlining will still be slightly heavier than on the numbers. All characters will be clear resin gel over a chrome ground.

As seen in the images, the formatting will be as on the stock decal for the ST1300 rather than that used on the ST1100, but both versions can be supplied as a special order with all characters being the same size as in the stock ST1100 decal.

The ST1300 badges are the same overall size as the stock ST1300 decal at 172mm long and about 26/27mm high but the ST1100 version will be slightly shorter because a ‘1’ has been substituted for the ‘3’. This still gives ample room though, to sensibly use a secondary badge.

Using the ST1300 format for both versions allows owners to use a secondary badge as in the photo to re-inforce the identity of their machine. The pannier badges (as in the photo) do this job very well. The pannier badges can be supplied showing the continent of the purchaser’s choice – ‘Pan-European’ normally and ‘Pan-Australian’, ‘Pan-American’, etc, etc as a special order and these would be best ordered in bulk if possible to keep the cost down.

The resin (gel) badges will be made by the existing supplier of the pannier badges which have been taken up well and have proved extremely durable.

The cost of the cowl badges will be £16.65 with free shipping in U.K and a postage surcharge of £1.15 to everywhere else. Group buys from forums and made outside ebay will attract a discount of at least 10%.

Pannier badges are still available separately for £9.75 with the same postage arrangements and costs as well as special order arrangements.

Postage of normal supply items will be almost immediate. Special orders which may take up to two weeks to be despatched.

At last. I've concluded a deal on the cowl badges with the supplier.

They are ordered in the ST1300 and ST1100 formats as per the photos in the first post in this thread. Stocks should be with me the end of next week or mid the following week when I can get the fleabay ad done. One of the daughters' blokes will mount them on the surviving saddlebag from NH478M so I can do the photos from here on the sofa.

The fleabay price is way over what they can be supplied to OZSTOC members for.

I think the eBay price for the ST cowl badges will be about £15.25 a pair plus postage for overseas.

I can send these over to OZSTOC members though for £10 plus postage which to OZ is normally £1.65 but if guys want to get together then the postage will obviously come down to whatever the Lovely Post Mistress charges me - that's the other Post Mistress, Mr Roper - lol!

If anyone wants to incorporate the Pan-European badges at the same time and as seen in a later post in this thread, these I can send for £6.50 a pair and currently on eBay they go out at £9.75 a pair. Same postage arrangements would apply.

If anyone wants to organise things there, just let me know and I'll get numbers reserved for despatch. No offence will be taken if no-one's interested cos they'll just go on eBay and experience tells me they'll go. I'm not offering this out to any other forums and so all other sales will be through eBay.

I've got 50 ship sets of each badge ordered in the first batch.

Best regards
PJ

All sounds good. many of us are meeting up this weekend for a get together so don't expect a lot responses until we all get back. I am sure it will be a talking point though!  Once I get back I will have a good look but definitely am interested.
