Title: Mandurah WA to Peterborough SA.
Post by: alans1100 on July 14, 2018, 12:20:53 AM
When returning home after picking up my 1300 I hope to succeed in completing my first FarRider list ride.

Essentially 1000 km minimum on day one (24 hours from start time) followed by 800 km minimum on following days.

Wednesday

No later than 10:00 am I leave Mandurah for overnight at Norseman - 843km

Thursday

Depart Norseman 7:30am and arrive at Balladonia before 10 am (24 hours) 190 km or 1033km in 24 hours
Then onto Border Village for overnight. 531 km

Friday

Depart Border Village for Yalata and arrive before 11:30 am (10 am WA time) (24 hours) 276 km or 801km in 24 hours
Then ride the final 801km casually home and have up until 11:30 am (10 am WA time) Saturday morning to do so.

It wasn't last November and I don't think it will be for a long time

Yalata roadhouse is closed but still there and these days is mainly used as a glorified rest stop.

It's still a town or at least a small community with an active Police presence with the Yalata aboriginal community a few km north of the hwy.

I looked at that one a day or two ago and have it under consideration.

When Dad and I went over by car we stayed at the BP one http://www.norsemaneyremotel.com.au/norseman-accommodation/norseman_eyre_motel.html (http://www.norsemaneyremotel.com.au/norseman-accommodation/norseman_eyre_motel.html)

So can you still get a receipt for the end of your list ride at Yalata or is it not required???

End of ride is at Peterborough so over three days. Can get an ATM docket for that. In some cases a photo will do if nothing else is available (corner dockets etc.)

Basic rules are

Quote
3. The rider must document the ride as a Ride Report on this FarRider Forum in Long Distance List Rides section as a new topic and include the following information:
   (a) Details of the motorcycle ridden including a photograph taken on the ride.
   (b) Start Location and time with odo reading.
   (c) Location and time of any corners if the ride is not a direct line of start to finish.
   (d) A narrative of the ride with at least one photograph from the ride. Preferably lots more.
   (e) Finish Location and time with odo reading and details of time and distance of the ride (don't make us do the sums).

So how was the ride?

Got back home 9:34 (8:06 pm WA) last night. Left the bike's time as was for the ride.

Will right up later but a trouble free ride with only living two roos to worry about and they were about 15km from Orroroo. By the time I saw them I was past and wondered if I saw them or not.

Might just make the ride a 1000km list ride though I think I have all the needs met for a multi-day ride anyway.

Good to see you are back safe.  Now the questions will start,  perfect time to do a comparison between the bikes.
