The VIN identifies which Honda ST1100 model has ABS by using the production sequence number. Those starting with 55 are ST1100 ABS versions.

Refer: https://www.hondashop.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Honda-Motorcycle-Model-ID-Chart.pdf

For 1995:
ST1100AS SC26U*SM550001~
ST1100PS SC26U*SM580001~
ST1100S   SC26U*SM500001~

This is a great chart for future reference.

The problem with the ABS1 abs components is they have all been taken to fix other bikes. I have permanent ebay searches for ABS1 abs components that no longer find anything.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a rear sensor for my 1995 1100. I'd have better luck finding a Tasmanian Tiger!

Hi DaleAP,
the rear sensor is common to ABS2 models as well. You can still buy them, refer: https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-st1100a-1995-s-australia_model4639/sensor-wheel-spd_38510maj781/

But at $500 delivered you would have to be certain the rest of the ABS system is good as a new modulator/ ecu is worth the value of the bike.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, they're pricey. :eek

Well I know the sensor needs replacing as it has had a deep groove cut in the the end by the ring gear. Once that's sorted I'll know if there are any other issues.

Hi DaleAP,
my rear sensor also has a wear groove. The wear is apparently normal talking to a honda mechanic. If it works, clean it, check the airgap and leave it would be my suggestion. It not working after that is a different story.
