I use AVS Video Converter (http://www.avs4you.com) which, whilst not free, comes as part of a suite of programs that will convert almost anything to anything audio files etc. This is the program I recommended to Diesel and he seems very happy with it and the way it works. I've used it for a number of years and ahve yet to come across any major task that it cannot do.
