Hiring a bike trailer or camping trailer....

Hi Villains,


I was just looking on the internet to hire a trailer for some furniture that needs to be picked up, and saw that you can hire 'Camping Trailers'. This is not so new, but two things came to mind...


1) at $135 for 3 days hire, I thought that was quite reasonable; and
2) saves keeping $1,000s worth of camping gear maintained in one's shed.


Anyway - got me to wondering if anyone has heard of motorcycle trailer hire?


Whether it be full camping trailers, or the normal cargo trailers.


Would YOU hire your trailer out? Not sure if I would.


Whaddaya think? Ever heard of this?

I would happily lend my trailer to another OZSTOC member with the proviso of "you break you buy". But that is just me ....   
Also it was not a very expensive trailer .... lol ...

I might lend a trailer to some one I know, but not rent it out

Looked at this a few years ago for 4x4 Campers and discarded the idea based on our location and limited client capture area.....but if you lived in the right area.

For occasional use hiring a trailer is probably better but there is a point where owning your own is cheaper.

My current used trailer cost $1000 so at $135 for three days I could get about 7.5 three day trips or 22.5 days (ignoring rego costs)

On average I use my trailer one day a month just for shopping/fishing so in two years I've used it a minimum of 24 days and I've had the trailer three years so I'm clearly in front over renting.

Some added benefits :-

No need to book,
You can go when you want to
No extra fees if your late
Very little packing

I wouldn't lend or rent mine as I might need it myself at short notice.
