Hi Chaps,

well rego time in NSW.. Green slip charges off the planet for bikes.... Privatisation will save us money by selling off to services NSW.  What a joke, my personalised number plates up over 100 percent and now they charge me a FEE FOR PAYING my rego, on top of my rego.

Just lucky you're not in SA then

Registration Fee and CTP is all we used to pay once and unlike some states it's all done at the registration office though that might change.
Admin Fee - when the system was computerised they added this on - less people and less wages but charge more.
Stamp Duty on the CTP component - Stamp duties were supposed to be removed when GST was implemented.
Emergency Services Levy - used to be just on homes etc. but added to all vehicles sometime ago.
Lifetime Support Fund - Under CTP the driver was never covered so a couple years ago they reworked the CTP reduced the fees and added this
GST on the CTP

In WA, the personal plate is a once off payment, CTP is part of the registration, no yearly greenslip.

Well in NSW my cheapest green slip is $672 and my personalised plates (nothing fancy just black and yellow normal) is $102 per year. PLUS they now charge a fee for collecting the money on behalf of the NSW government.

We have several different types of personal plates the most basic of which has a one off fee with several colour variations with all the other types having a yearly fee.

We used to have the system has NSW but around 30 years ago the state took over the CTP has the private insurers kept raising prices and now they're looking at putting CTP back to private insurers. About two years ago they started selecting private companies to do the actual insurance with fees set by the state; so it's possible to have the bike and car insured with different companies as we don't have a say in it.

Me thinks its time for change! In Vic, our reg costs are indexed with the cost of living, I think its 3%. It has always bothered me that our TAC sponsors such things as Football clubs and the like. TAC is the insurance charge which covers all motorists without any blame. I would like to see any profit/excess come back to the registered owner of every vehicle. Doesn`t happen. Why?????????????????????????????????????????????????
