Bodo do you have a story to write up in this section?
Maybe you have already done one and I missed it?

Yeah, I bought a Goldwing in october which I kept secret until attending the Finnis RTE last month.  Yesterday I rode it to the Fleurieu Peninsula.  I still have the Versys.  On saturday I took that to some non ST friendly territory in Beetaloo Valley, Terka and Coomooroo.

Very sharp colour scheme.  Big jump in size from the Versys!

Ironically at an RTE earlier in the year I said a wing was my dream bike but now I'm content with the Versys, then you posted a picture of yours and I thought "you prick, I'm envious now".  At work a couple of months ago I saw this and decided it's now or never, crunched some numbers and made it mine.

Actually being lower to the ground it doesn't feel that much heavier (if at all) and it glides through the curves.  Might be a different story if I have to pick it up off the ground.  Hopefully I never have to.

Yep, all that, but also the acreage of tank, panel, handlebars, panniers and topbox would be a step up from the small footprint of the Versys.

Yep, all that, but also the acreage of tank, panel, handlebars, panniers and topbox would be a step up from the small footprint of the Versys.

Top box - yes I can fit two helmets in it.

Panniers - I'm not so sure.  The Versys pannier will hold a helmet, the wing's won't.  It's slightly longer but it doesn't have the width.

Overnighting might be interesting.  I can throw a duffle bag over the Versys pillion seat.  The wing's is more curved so that may be a challenge.

Handlebars - haven't really felt a difference but the cruise control is pretty good.  The Versys' grip warmers are better.  U-turning is more of a challenge.

Acreage of tank... not really sure what I can get from a full tank.  The needle drops from full quicker than the Versys but drops gradually.  The Versys takes ages to drop from full but once the first bar goes the rest drop more quickly.

I haven't really had much farkling to do.  It already had the stuff I wanted.  A couple of weeks ago I discovered it has a GPS trip recorder so switched that on and tested it yesterday.  I'm happy with that.  The date is wrong though.  I haven't been able to change it.

You have some riding to do to catch-up to this guy.

http://ozstoc.com/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=752

And even more, if the figures in post #58 on that thread are an accurate indication of some GL kms.

They're miles too (not kilometres).  The Versys has 186'000km so even that's not even close.
