Brave Ruby
« on: March 23, 2019, 08:05:55 PM »
I rode to Barwon Heads today to park Ruby in fromt of 1200 Harleys I am told it was. I didnt see that many but they were in multiple car parks everywhere.
Ruby did stand out though.
I went to the service for the life of the Godsquad founder John Smith. An amazing man who made waves with the establishment everywhere he went. Just like Jesus did.
300 km for the day. Not so many but I to travel on freewayswith the cages all day so that must be worth something.

Thanks for posting that.

That would have been an amazing event. Don’t suppose you have any more photos?

I remember hearing John speak in the 80s when I was at Uni. That was the only time I came across him unfortunately, maybe because I rode Honda’s not Harley’s.

Great that you could be there, ppopeye.  Smithy made a great impact on many lives.
Ruby definitely stood out, and so she should.  The black HDs might be in mourning, but the event was really a celebration, so bright colours were appropriate!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks popeye.

That was a grand send-off, and gives an indication of how many lives John touched.

The sea of HDs in the second photo is impressive, and perhaps even intimidating to us 'ordinary bikers'.

I think Ruby was very lonely. I admit being a wee bit intimidated too.

I met John once,  and have one of his books with  personal message/inscription.  He was a truly inspirational man who bought his faith to the marginalized.
