Mudguard Extension
« on: November 04, 2020, 10:23:07 PM »
I bought a mudguard extension some time last year from http://mototoys.com.au/ at the bargain price of $19 (plus postage) and finally got around to fitting it while I've been doing a few other mods and general servicing on the ST.
I was a bit hesitant in drilling holes through the guard to attach it so I decided to use double sided tape.
Not your el-cheapo $2.00 shop tape but some quality you-beaut stuff: https://www.bunnings.com.au/permastik-5m-x-24mm-outdoor-mounting-tape_p0045262

It seems nice and solid but I guess time will tell... :think1

I put one on the 1100 years ago, the recommended adhesive was an abs cement. Couldnt find any so used silicon sealant, held it in place overnight with some spring clamps. It hasnt fallen off yet, and doesnt look like it will ever. No screws were used.

Cheers Brock!
Mine came with some skimpy double sided tape but I got rid of that and used a much larger amount of tape, pretty much covering the whole face.
I'd be very surprised if it does come off but you just never know, I guess... :think1

At the start of the year I bought one from BikeQuip, and I used the supplied tape. It sticks like fury. Since then I’ve done about 10,000k, some of it quite bumpy.   I think you will be fine.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.
