Wanted: ST1300 rear shock
« on: May 23, 2023, 05:17:50 PM »
Hi all,

chasing a st1300 rear shock, and I am located near Toowoomba (but posted is fine). Thought I'd try the forum before trying wreckers.

Long story short, sent old shock for rebuild at shock treatment, and just got a call saying the internal bladder (or along those lines) was shot so it is unrebuildable :'(  Old shock was so bad then even decent roads felt bad. Racetech aftermarket is unafordable  :eek

thanks
David

I had my mechanic replace a shock with an after-market one.  I'm not at home, so can't look up what it cost, but even with the relatively difficult installation, it wasn't too expensive as far as I can recall.  Do some research on other manufacturers.  Buying someone's old one might not give you many kays before you're needing another one.

good point, interesting to see what you got. Doc should even let me back on the bike soon (back surgery a few months ago)

Thanks Glen, I'll keep it in mind (mine just passed 110k when it was pronounced dead)

Cheers

There is a firm in Brisbane that can recondition your shock absorber, I had my ST1100 one done by them. Worked well! I had them put a heavier duty spring on at the same time.

good thinking. Was it something like yss or k-tech by any chance?  Looks to be cheaper than even a racetech rebuild (which of course could not rebuild mine due to internal damage), yss seem to be ok, but no real reviews when run on a st13.

cheers

Here are some other shock options: https://suspensionsrus.com.au/filter?category_44=10&other_39=12&feature_40=ST+1300+PAN+EUROPEAN&feature_41=2008&type=top

The YSS shock isn't too badly priced, I guess... :popcorn
