H4 Globe Replacement

I'm going to replace the globes in my headlights with H4 globes, thinking at this stage 55/100w.
Now I've checked out most of the lighting posts on various forums & the Headlight & loom should be able to cope with this however, I intend to remove the fairing during fitment as I'm also going to install relays for the high beams so I don't cook the wiring.
I will also use the shims that allow the H4 globe to be used instead of the standard Honda 45/45w globes see

Problem is that postage is the same for 10 sets as is for 1 ($38) so I'm getting 10 sets which I'll then sell off  for what they cost me (about $10 a pair posted in OZ I think)
One thing I'm wondering about is if anyone has fitted higher wattage globes & is the extra heat going to cause probs with the ST headlight Lens?

I was going to put higher wattage globes into my Camry. These like the ST have a plastic reflector/ headlight body.
I would be cautious regarding heat. A 50/55 watt Xenon globe gives a bright white light.
The 1300 shouldn't need shims. This could be confirmed by Diesel as he has just done a HID conversion on his 1300 STead.

Probably not a good idea to put 100Watters in there, as they are pretty close to gether the heat build up could be pretty high. 55/60 watters should be ok

Thanks for that I was thinking the same way, I put 100w globes in my CBR1000 many years ago & the reflector could not cope the light was worse than with the standard 55/ 60w globes no penetration just a lot of light

I ordered a set of shims as part of another order and have them standing by.  However I so impressed with the OEM lighting on my 2008 that I cannot be bothered yet.  They are so much better than the old 2003 OEM lights (I changed them over with shims to Philips 50/60s).

I'll have to ask the previous owner of my 2008 to confirm they are OEM (or maybe he's already replaced them).

I too would go for 60s or the HID replacements before the 100w highs, based on concern about heat yellowing the reflectors.
