« on: November 22, 2011, 06:10:53 PM »
Hi to all ST`ers, just not long orded & received today  my new screen from AJ Plastics in Brisie for my 1300 , went for the higher screen & fitted in 15mins. Been for a test ride & seems to work realy well, the old one was the original & totaly scratched. The new one is a bit wider as well i`m very happy with the result although $257 delivered was $40 dearer than one from the UK!......O well!!  It`s only $$$$$  Pete!  :slvr13

Fairing screen, flip up style in a light tint finish, 5 inches taller than standard £59.00 £59.00
4 Spark plug, NGK CR8EH9 £5.95 £23.80
1 BELT,TIMING *B £45.00 £45.00
   £127.80
  Delivery £78.00
  inc VAT
(17.5%) £241.82

I just checked a previous order I made back in August 2010 for my 1100 and for the above three items was charged about $385AUD.
Having read this and checking my last two orders I notice they forgot to remove VAT which I have just contacted them about. My first couple of orders were ok  so I'm sure it was an over sight.

Website https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/.

I source all my non urgent O.E. spares for my 1100 from there as overall it's cheaper than the local Honda prices. usual benefits, no customs duty for orders under a $1000 (conditional) and no GST.

My new extended screen with wings has arrived from Eagle screens. I have taken a short ride and got up to 110Ks. Even without ear plugs its a lot quieter. There is still a bit of noise from the helmet, may try a Laminar Lip a bit later.

Will post some pics a bit later.

I have a Laminar Lip fitted to my stock 1300 screen.

Does it cut down the wind noise??.................I think it does....but I've noticed more engine and road noise since fitting it.

I'm sure it was there all the time but I couldn't hear it above the wind noise...............not sure what I prefer!!

Just as a matter of interest.......I ride with my screen at the lowest setting all the time. The only time I raise it is if it starts to rain, then I take it up to just under eye level...................I don't like looking through the screen.

I,m still looking over the screen, it would have been annoying I think to look through it. It should help deflect a lot more rain past the head and shoulders as well, yes the engine noise is more noticeable, but when on the open road at Mach 2 it shouldnt be a problem  :crackup :crackup :law :law

I prefer my screen down all the way, after all that's why dogs hang their heads out windows right. Thanks Dave Roper.

Everyone has different ideas. Next time I'll try a shortened screen, as the only time I have it fully up is when approaching oncoming trucks in the rain, keeps the visor clean.

On my ST1100 I cut down the screen to near nothing and it works a dream. No buffeting, better handling, and it lets you know why dogs hang their heads out the window. Up here in 40 degree + I reckon its heaps cooler than with a screen

Hi. I like riding with a high screen and am wondering if I could get some advice on where to purchase one. I have found several on the web. My bike is a 2001 ST1100A. The Australian site I have been looking at is Screens for Bikes
http://www.screensforbikes.com/gallery/honda/st-1100-89-02/
However I like the screen from Cee Bailey
http://www.ceebaileys.com/honda/st1100ws.html
as it is higher and has the option for a wider flair at the top.
Could I ask for suggestions on where to go for the right price. I am hoping someone knows a local supplier.
Thanks

Yes Malcolm your right, mine was from Eagle Screens & they will do them anyway you want.
BTW tho they are 5 mins away from me they only do Internet sales mine cost $180 from memory.
I got a dark short (Summer) screen I can't ride with the screen up, too much pressure on my back for me.
With this screen  I raise it about 5cms at Highway speeds.
If I was getting one done again I'd get it a little taller but I have to admit I like the way it looks to me the bike is more sporty looking
