ST1300A Camera Tryout

I've been looking for a fairly stable location to put the Go Pro cam on the 1300A and the top of the mirror cover seemed like a good place.

Mounted the cam just after lunch and let it sit for a while. About 4:30pm I had to go to the shop and it was a good time to see what sort of image I would get. The main thing was getting rid of the vibration I kept getting on the 1100 regardless of the location.

May I inquire as to where you attached a tether to if the mount and camera decide to part ways???

I did think about a tether but as usual didn't worry about it. The double sided 3M adhesive mounts are fairly good and I have yet to have let go. When I first got the cam I used to tether it but there was nothing to worry about.

Different story with suction cup mounts though as they do tend to fail after a short time.

A couple of zip ties would do the trick though.

Alan.  Thnaks for posting the video.    There are a couple of things that I have noted.  First, the image quality looks a bit "foggy" as might be seen with a dirty lens, and second I reckon that if there is a bit of bike in the video, it adds impact to the whole effect.  The sound quality is good, and all I get with my Contour Roam is wind noise.

It looks like it will only be a temporary location because once the driving lights get installed I'll have to look else where. Maybe under the mirror like I have on the 1100.

I get the wind noise when I have the cam on the helmet but with the state of our roads I get to much head shake for the cam.

I think the lens is ok but the casing might need a little TLC on the inside.

Looked at the tethering issue and a couple of zip ties will work and attached around the lower screen mounts should be ok since I rarely move the screen.

Personally I have never had the need for tethering.  The only time the stickys have come off are when there has been an incredible whack to the bike, ie. dropping the Kwaka on the Great Ocean Road in 2017 and stacking the Firenze in Windsor being a dick on dirt roads in 2014.

I do understand what Stinky Pete says about having some portion of the bike in screen.  When I had the gopro attached to the right hand handle bar some of the screen was in the left of the picture, but you still saw all of the scenery.
