Title: Daylight saving
Post by: Wild Rose on April 07, 2024, 07:14:37 PM
It's so good that Daylight saving is finally over so our southern members can get a decent night sleep  :grin
They don't have to get up in the dark to go to work
Sleep tight  :melt:

I'm glad the rest of the state has now aligned itself with my computer and other devices.

I for one love daylight savings...  :thumbs

Just a shame the other States are still stuck in the dark ages... :whistle

The only time I was involved in daylight saving was when I lived in Cloncurry many years ago
Try to get kids to bed at 10pm when it was still daylight then trying to get them out of bed for school the next morning in the dark to get them to school
It just didn't work
Now that I am retired it really doesn't matter

I'm a light sleeper so any early light coming through the window will wake me.
I overcame that a while back by having a roller shutter, a roller blind, a venetian blind and some block out curtains...
Hmmm, that does sound a touch overboard but it works!!!  :grin

The only light that penetrates the darkness now is the very faint glow from my clock/radio, which is a whole other story!  :crackup

I'm a light sleeper so any early light coming through the window will wake me.

I have the same problem, with the added hassle of sleeping facing the bloody window, due to that being the best position for me and SWMBO after various bike-related injuries in our younger days.

I also hate that it is now light at ungodly hours of the early am when I am trying to sleep, and dark at six at night when I am not.

Personally, I would be happy if we moved that hour forward and stayed there...

I don't care which time they choose but wish they'd leave it constant all year round.

Same. We lived in Townsville for a few years when kids were little. We voted against Daylight Savings for the same reason.

I sort of get it when it comes to FNQ as, from my own experience, I know tradies etc like to get an early start to beat some of the heat/humidity.
But, down here in "Mexico" it's great to be able to have dinner and then get outdoors while it's still light enough to have some fun!  :runyay

Wow, we're practically neighbours!  :grin

I never really had any problems with my daughter struggling to sleep because it was light outside...
Then again, not much light filtered into the cupboard I kept her locked up in!  :whistle |-i

...wish they'd leave it constant all year round.

That's the key word, there's too many they - Federal, State & Territory jurisdictions (although I don't think ACT & NT would have too much say) and then within each of those, too many opposing, unaligned or worse, diametrically opposed views.

Ah, what we do without First World problems?

I blame Leo for stirring the hornet's nest.

We don't need to save daylight up here cos we already get enough to last all day unlike you mexicans that are in the dark three quarters of the day. :grin :grin

You should move to my hometown.  You'll get two months of non stop daylight in summer.
