What air filters do the members use in their ST1100's? I am thinking to change to a K&N HR1191, which is washable, on my 2002 Police model .
What are your thought?

The last one I used was an aftermarket one from the UK for £15.00 ($27.00 plus postage) P/N BHCBB-MT3-000P at https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/ (https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/)
With the local OEM air cleaner price at around $90 anything cheaper is a bonus.

I have used the K&N one all the ST's I have owned, one ST1100 and two ST1300.
They work well and are a lot cheaper to maintain then replacing the filter :thumbsup

I use the K&N air filter in both ST1300 I have owned and the other bikes I have owned
Good quality but not sure if they help with fuel economy like they say

If you go for the K&N, dont use the fine pre filter , it causes a very restricted airflow and poor running.

Thanks for the responses, I have ordered the stock filter from my local Honda dealer here in Bunbury $136 thanks very much! In the mean time I will probably order a K&N HA-1191 filter from USA as no one seams to stock this item in Australia.

I've recently gone to this one https://www.rycofilters.com.au/catalogue/part/index/part/RMZ119 (https://www.rycofilters.com.au/catalogue/part/index/part/RMZ119) after trying a few different aftermarket filters. I also have the Honda tool (almost essential on the 1300) for removing the filter and it also fits the Ryco one which other filters I have used don't.

Speaking of filter tools, I bought one of these (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/65mm-Cap-Oil-Filter-Wrench-Cars-Socket-Remover-Tool-14-Flutes-For-Toyota-A8/122496041695?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649/) a while back and it did the job, enabling me to remove the genuine Honda filter fitted to my ST1300 without any hassle.
Just tried it on a spare Ryco filter I have and it seems like it will fit that too... ++
I normally try not to buy too much from China but I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it arrived...

I am going to replace this one.
It appears to be an aftermarket item but due to the bike sitting it has deteriorated significantly .

It is ratshit and after the appropriate research I will replace it with a HiFlow from Wemoto here in OZ.
Luckily I only live 10 mins from them here on the South Voast of N.S.W
Part way through resurrecting a 96 Police bike and have sooo many things to do I don't know where to start.
Stripped the bodywork, replaced the battery and it started quickly. Rocker covers are leaking onto the exhaust and the list goes on. Sounded tight and with only 158000 K's it sounded like it has a few more miles to give. I am amazed at the mileages that these bikes do .Typical Hons, built to last eh ?
Will keep you posted and feel free to chime in any time with comments or suggestions.

If the OEM air filter is used, is it okay to use the fine pre-filter ? Living in a very sandy environment I want to do everything possible to minimise the amount of dust getting into the engine

No, a pre filter is not a good idea.
The ST air cleaner is not prone to dust ingestion, it has been well designed to prevent this happening, the air actually drawn through a port in the lower front, a pretty good place for clean air.
