This one is only a couple of weeks away.

Let Stinky Pete and I know whether you're interested or not.

If the distance is a concern in "these unprecedented and difficult times", then we could perhaps do a day run to somewhere on the Sunday for lunch.

Your feedback is important to us.  :grin

The distance isn't that much of an issue but the cost of accommodation is.  Last year I stayed a night in Bordertown and in Ballarat the following night for a combined cost of less than Rawnsley want for one night.

On our last visit to Rawnsley Park, we shared a basic cabin in the caravan park,  and took food for a BBQ and cooked in the well appointed fully enclosed camp kitchen.

Rawnsley Park looks to be pet friendly, unlike Wilpena Pound, as they have pet friendly cabins.

Powered site $39/ night, unpowered site for $29 / night and cabins from $110 / night.

We are planning to spend a few days up there before the RTE and will be taking the camper trailer.

Looking forward to a communal BBQ for the RTE.

This is a beautiful part of the state, so Chris and I plan on going.    At this stage we are undecided as the taking the bike, or staying an extra day or so and taking the caravan.

Those intending to go include....
StinkyPete & Chris
Shillas, Sandra & Harry
Langers & Julie

Our evening meal will be a BYO food and drinks in the Camp Kitchen  (Woodfire, BBQ's Tables and Chairs etc)

I am a highly unlikely. We are heading to Melrose with friends on the 13th to go cycling  :eek, mountain climbing  :'( and bushwalking in gorges  :eek, for a week.
I have a cunning plan m'Lord to head up on the V-Strom so when the others plan their 20km walking days exploring gorges (seen one, seen 'em all, I say), I'll do my own bit of exploring on the bike  :runyay.  What a great plan - now wish me luck.

If the motorcycling Gods are smiling I'll try to head off a day or so early so I can join the fun at Rawnsley.

The chances of attendance have improved. I mentioned to Julie my idea of taking the V-Strom up to Rawnsley a couple of days early and then meet the others back at Melrose on Sunday. "Not without me, you won't". You bewdy!!
Now I just have to get the rack and bags from Andy Strapz in time and convince our friends to take most of our luggage/bikes for us to Melrose.

I reckon we're a better than 50% chance of going, so put us down, with a question mark.

We've already booked, with a preference for one of the "Creek" sites (36-40), where we've stayed before.   I will be bringing our small portable fire pit.

It'll just be me, duty calls for Sandra.

That's disappointing   :'(       With Sandra and Harry staying home, will you be on the bike or still taking the camper?

RTE done and dusted, with Stinky Pete, Chris & Langers & Julie and myself attending.

Langers & Julie on Mark's new V-Strom, this being the closest vehicle to an ST.

Great night around Stinky Pete's fire pit.

No flag, so no photos.

We all had a wonderful gathering.   Chris and I took the carvan, Shillas was in his Camp Trailer, and we each spent time exploring some of the Flinders Ranges National Park.  It's a beautiful and ancient landscape.   Langers and Julie rolled up on Saturday arvo on the V-Strom.

We gathered at around 4.00pm at one of the Carvan Park BBQ shelters for drinks and nibbles, and didn't move for the rest of the evening.   As expected there were stories told, journeys recounted and the  worlds problems solved.   No one had a camera and we were too settled to bother finding one, but as Shillas has said, it was a memorable RTE.

Richo, great weekend and possibly a better weekend than this one weather wise.

Wouldn't have been fun on an ST or even Langers v-STrom.

Photo nicked from the web

But maybe given a couple of weeks, the wildflowers will give it a totally different perspective.

:think1 Might even head back up  :grin

I have done many things in my life that, at the time, looked like fun but sadly weren't, and, resulted in either pain or embarrassment or both. I can however say, attempting to cross a flooded creek on a motorcycle isn't one such occasion. Then again, I suppose it depends on what is on the other side ......

2 bits of good news - - the ST's fork seals seem to be sealing again following running a piece of plastic around to clean them, so Scarlett will be heading out again. Secondly, the Wallaroo/Lucky Bay ferry has arrived in Adelaide from Venezuela so the service should be up and running within the month so a tour of lower EP is on the cards.
