Maintenance question ST1100

Hi all, I have an ST1100, and I am the 2nd owner. The bike has done 55K Kms, and, afaik, the drive shaft has never been serviced (greased etc.), nor has the cooling system (hoses etc)

My question is: should I service the drive shaft or: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Same with the cooling system.(replacing hoses)

I can't seem to find anything, either in the manuals or handbook, as to the servicing schedule for the drive shaft. The machine is 17 years old.........

You might want to amend your title to say Maintance question for ST1100 that way we will know which model it is for.

I think the drive shaft is a greased for life item unless a related part needs to be repaired e.g. final drive unit. In that case the drive unit needs to be removed and you would regrease the splines etc. when reinstalling.

Coolant hose life can vary depending where you live though I did mine when I did the timing belt at 150,000km. The ones I could see were fine but the two that go under the carbs (more heat there) should have been done a lot earlier - see here http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=2977.msg34375#msg34375
