Title: 2016-09-05 Horrocks Pass
Post by: alans1100 on September 06, 2016, 11:48:47 PM
Took some video on my trip to Port Augusta yesterday from Wilmington to and through Horrocks Pass. Then back up through the pass to Wilmington on the way back home. Cam under the LH mirror gives me the most stable image at most speeds.

What a great day you had for it! Great run both ways, loved the music, haven't seen it that green in a while . . . Well done Alan.

Great to see the country so green. Both times I've been through that area it has been drought.

Have a look here which should give you an idea. I've reduced the length a little by removing the bottom 360 degree fitting. The shorter the length the better. http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10520.msg1193595#msg1193595 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10520.msg1193595#msg1193595)

We had fires through there a couple years ago which was good for the native vegetation plus this year more rainfall as well.

The music can be a pain to pick at times though.

Next time I'm over that way, I think I shall do the loop over Horrocks and up to Quorn thru Pichi Richi (Peachey Ritchie?) . I've done Horrocks many times on the bike but only ever done Pichi Richi in a 4wd . .

Arrange to ride Germein Gorge Road, Horrocks and Pichi Richi in a circut.   They are all in the same region and make for a fantastic trilogy.

Now Im green Pete. Not fair. We have a lot of good roads but that circuit sounds good. Perhaps a day ride en route to an RTE one day??

This is probably the best way to do it coming from down South. https://goo.gl/maps/cYwjHEtTGCn

Germein Gorge is a little narrower with more bends and hence a little slower.
