Title: Need advice on some NSW roads
Post by: West Aussie Glen on January 15, 2020, 04:37:04 PM
I have just spent a few days with my mate Steve in Victor Harbor. Steve has a modern Indian.
Steve raised the option of attending the Indian gathering in Silverton:-

So a trip is now planned developed to include The Loaded Dog Rally in Tarago and the start of the Ulysses AGM in Lismore before heading to Broken Hill/Silverton. As Steve hasn't ridden Mt Panorama thought we should include a couple of laps.

This is our planned route to Lismore:-

Does anybody know what the Scone Rd / Bunnan Rd from Merriwa Scone is like.

Our return trip is:-

With a about 2,800kms for me to get to Victor Harbor it should clear the cobwebs from the GoldWing

Hopefully those addresses in your google map aren't something that you want to keep private, Glen?  >:()  :eek

Goodo! You don't want someone paying your home a visit when you're away!

Cheers  :beer

Done. Homes will be occupied but better that addresses are removed.

I did Merriwa to Scone in the dark on the ST13 a few years ago.  I was actually headed for home intending to intercept the New England Hwy.  I took the sealed short cut up to Willow Tree only to find it turn to gravel after 25 kays.  It started to go up a mountain so I chickened out and back-tracked to the good sealed road into Scone.

Yes Google maps originally had us going direct to Willow Tree but a closer look showed it to be at least partly dirt hence adding the 169 Kelly St Scone to force it via Scone.

Can't recommend any night running. Hit a roo recently south of Coolah. Trashed plastic and bent radiator.

Thanks. There will definitely be no night riding. Only a couple of the days will result in 7 hours on the bike.

Merriwa to Scone is OK. Merriwa to Willow Tree is now tarred. You will hit some dirt going from Kingswood (south of Tamworth) to Nemingah.  Go into Tamworth and turn right at the second roundabout will take you to Nemingah via a tarred back road.
Some of the roads around Ashford to Warialda can be a bit rough but are all tarred.
Lots of flat straight roads past Walgett, just watch for goats at any time of day.
