I'm looking to buy some Bluetooth headsets, both for work and also for pillion use. Can anyone recommend a decent set that won't cost the earth? :13Candy

I have the Sena SMH10 (a pair) and love it. Audio quality is superb and the large "jog" dial makes it really easy to use fully gloved up for winter. Spend time though to locate the speakers properly.... I also placed some foam behind the speaker to bring it closer to the ear.
I currently have it paired with an iPhone 3GS which has been flawless - music, receiving calls, and making them (via voice command). However, since the iPhone has been getting slower and slower with the new iOS upgrades I wanted to get a new one. I tested it with my son's new iPhone5 and could not get it to make a call (all other features worked).
I believe this problem was introduced with the iPhone 4S - since then the iPhone hasn't been able to detect the end of the voice command and just leaves you dangling. I'm not sure if this is truly an iOS bug, or the Sena. I tested my Sena with a mates Galaxy S3 on Thursday, worked a treat, so I placed an order for a new S3.
Regardless of the unit, you will still get a lot of wind noise. One cool thing about the Sena is that you can buy additional fitting brackets that take ear buds if this is your thing (< $40).

I use the scala G4 with a Shark Evoline Series II... I have it paired to an iPhone and a Uniden BT Uhf CB.
The audio is great (the shark is not a quiet helmet) for both music, GPS directions and pilllion or bike to bike comms. The scala G4 can pair on the fly to others within a 1 km range (as well as chating through the UHF)... Most of the guys I ride with have one.. we can page each other for short range comms.
Fitting is easy and the controls simple even in thicker gloves... I do like the way one button will bring up 'siri' on the iPhone so I can use voice instructions to text, call, change playlists, etc... Brilliant!!! A simple loud 'hello' will answer incoming phone calls...
Battery life is really good.. I rode from Port Macquarie to Canberra (10.5 hrs) with music playing all the way. The unit also receives FM radio which I use for the comute to work and back (love that ABC News radio).
Cheers,
Doug
The unit is a bit pricey, but if you haggle deals can be made... I got a twin set up for just under $400.00

I’m also using the G4 with an Evoline 2 and iPhone 4s :thumbs no UHF yet though :'(
As Doug said it’s an awesome bit of gear, easy to use and awesome battery life :runyay
Also if the unit runs out of charge it can be plugged into the power socket on the bike and you can still use it while it charges :thumb

Doug, what model is your Uniden UHF?
-
Shiney,
I have the UH7700NB fitted in the LH fairing pocket, powered on switched power with a now well hacked quartet cable. The Bluetooth capability is through the mic and there is a remote PTT that also takes a mobile phone type ear piece and mic.
I had a locksmith make a cutdown key that I keep in the lock to be able to open and change channel / volume / etc without stopping.
Cheers,
Doug

Doug does the unit need anything extra to work with the G4 or does it just connect through the Bluetooth on the G4 (sound through the speakers, voice through the mic and push the “phone button” on the unit to activate the PTT)
