J.I.S. Screwdriver Source?
« on: November 17, 2012, 05:22:48 PM »
Hi,
Anyone know an online retailer I can order size 2 and 3 JIS type driver < $30?

The idles screw adjuster is siezed (st1300) and I need to free it up. its under the air filter housing.

The JIS type screws that hold the plastic housing to the throttle bodies are super tight and cannot be removed with a normal iso or impact driver type bit...
dont ask me how I know either...

the screw heads must be made from butter as I buggerized one on repeated attempt....

thnaks

Be careful with that.

There's a guy on the Honda PanEuropean Owners Club forum, Dave Wilkins, as in  dave@davewilkinsmotorcycles.co.uk  who I recall posted about this problem. He said that if you're not ultra careful it's possible that you'll break something or other (sorry, can't be more definite than that).

Have a search on the above forum or contact Dave himself, he's very helpful and a guru when it comes to ST's.

Good luck,

Thanks Dave,

I just sent him an email.
I found this on e-bay and may have to order it from the uk.
I will ask at bunnings, brunsons auto and autobarn as well, but expecting to get the blank stare, as it is a specialty tool...

much apreciated again,

Try someone like Blackwoods or Gasweld tool centres (I'm sure there are others listed in the phone book).  :)
