Unfortunately, I have bad memories of the Sarina area, as two of my very close friends were murdered near there in March 1975.
I was enroute to Emu Park at the time to meet up with them again.

Last night at Emu Park I had heavy rain for a short time, so I woke to a wet tent inhabited by some very fat and happy mozzies. On my way to MacKay there was one short heavy shower near Sarina, and that was it. The afternoon was spent with Kate and John, touring the city, followed by a glorious meal at a local Indian restaurant. My plans for the next couple of days will deviate from the posted itinerary, and I expect to overnight at Ayr on Monday night.

It was sad to leave the hospitality of the Thunderbolts, but the journey continues and I am tenting in a lovely spot at Ayr. It hit 30 degrees with some humidity today, which this southerner finds uncomfortable.

Kicked on early today, my guess is to move before the sticky heat makes it too uncomfortable. Left Ayr around 2 hours ago.

Now north of Townsville, about level with Saunders Beach and approaching Rollingsrone. About halfway to Cardwell from Ayr.

The weather for today's ride went like this... Wet - Dry - Wet - Dry...... and all at around 30 degrees. I stopped at Cardwełl to bag the bike with Big Mud Crab and to eat a crab burger, which was a bit forgettable. No tent tonight due to the rain, and I am here in Cairns for a couple of days to restock and gird my loins, rather than riding up to Cooktown. All is well with bike and self.
