A hot but beautiful day on the road. I left just before sunrise, and at one point when looking in the mirrors I could see boab trees sillouetted against the sunrise, with the ancient landscape in front of me lit up by the orange dawn sky. It's a privilege to be here and see such things. The "wet" has been very dry, and creeks and rivers that should be full of water are bone dry. I am in the tent tonight as a basic room and bed was going to cost $220.

Up n attem around 6.30 am, moving out by 6.45, and now almost halfway to Derby at 8am.

Looks like the run to Broome is on. Its only 2 hours, 180 km away.
Choice of several caravan parks there, Broome/Cable Beach area.

It was another pretty hot day to be on the bike. 33 by eight oclock and then 38 is from late morning. However, drinking lots of water and keeping my shirt wet made the travelling more comfortable. I got a good deal on the extra night at Broome, so only stopped at Derby for fuel and a cuppa at the wharf Cafe, and am now in Broome for a few days. Today I spotted another lovely flock of budgies and lots of red tailed black cockatoos. Chris flies in tomorrow.

When I first got it, it was not much better than the OEM, with sore bum bones after just 100km. I contacted Russel Cycle Products and sent them more photos and a description of the problem. They agreed that was too wide. The seat went back for adjustment under warranty and it is now vastly superior to the OEM, and I am happy with the product. It is my knees and back that now make me stop for a break. Note that the RDL seat is around 25mm taller than the OEM seat, so shorties might struggle with the increased height from the ground.

Well, we have had a lovely few days here in Broome, and have explored Chinatown, Cable Beach, the high end pearl shops, and been on a tour. Tomorrow Chris flies out for home, and my journey continues to Pt Hedland. I have booked the bike in for new tyres in Perth, as I don't reckon I will get home on the current PR4s which have given disappointing mileage on the Beemer. I am having a set of Pirelli Angel GT A Specs fitted. From here, my planned itinerary has somewhat gone out the window, so watch this space for my progress.

Glad to hear you've had some time with Chris. Look forward to seeing the new pearls on the next RTE you both make.

Tyres seem to remain a big puzzle, no matter what bike.
