What do you do with a perfectly good bomber jacket from a former workplace?  Sew an Ozstoc badge over their logo, a national rally patch over the subsidiary logo and hey presto, you have an Ozstoc bomber jacket you can proudly wear anywhere.  It got its first outing on the Elliston Ride To Eat.

As always I left in the dark and was well out of Adelaide by sunrise.  On Wakefield Highway I saw red and blue lights in the distance and thought someone had suffered the same fate I had in Karte but it turned out they were escorting a convoy of lorries carrying wind turbine blades.  I passed them as they had pulled over only for them to pass me when I refuelled at Port Wakefield.  That meant a slow trip until the first set of overtaking lanes when the lorries all moved to the right, far right lane for oncoming traffic and the police cars to the left in a formation I had never seen before leaving me wondering what I should do.  I sat back for a but until the driver of the police car put a red glow stick out the window and usher be through (between them and the lorries).  That was something different.  I'm guess they were being taken to the wind farm being built at Winninowie/Port Paterson.  I was well ahead of them by the time I got here.

After posting a photo of the bus in Kimba and mentioning the Iron Knob one I saw in 2015 on facebook a co-worker told be all about the Iron Knob one so I went to see if it was still there.  It was, full of junk it would be one hell of a task to retrieve.

Across the road from it was this ute with windows smashed in.  They could drag it across the road and put it in the same yard as the bus and it would fit right in.

The vehicle in front of me dropped this oil when we stopped to refuel in Kimba.  I mentioned to him and he just shrugged his shoulder and said it's too hard to fix.

It was one of these two vehicles.  I had seen them in Iron Knob when I rode in.

Often Port Augusta is a good spot to defrost and have breakfast but the Butter Chicken at Kimba roadhouse was so good on the
Tumby Bay RTE I opted to skip Port Augusta and have brunch in Kimba instead.  I also like that you get it on a plate with some proper cutlery, not like at Snowtown.

I climbed up some piles of roadwork materials (rocks/stones) t get a photo of a ruin somewhere in either Solomon or Panitya and thought I may as well take a selfie whilst I am here.

I'd read in the past of a District Council of Lehunte being an old name for the Wudinna District Council (probably after BR19) so wonder how old this sign is.  Just checked.  According to a bloke in the pub (aka wikipedia) it was changed in 2008.

I've whizzed past this monument in Koongawa many times and thought it really isn't in a safe place to park.  It turns out there is a track to the rear of it and the entrance is a fair way away.  I thought it might have been a Goyder's Line marker but it's more to do with John Darke and his burial place.

Here's one for the brains trust.  I saw this sign at Palkagee but why is it the District Council of Elliston and the Wudinna District Council (ie. not the District Council of Wudinna)?

I arrived at Elliston at 12 noon but fortunately I could go into my cabin.

Had to do this to stop the bike stand sinking into the ground, and it did sink.

No such worries for Langers who despite having an identical cabin got concrete to park his steed.

After a bit of a chinwag we all went for a walk out to the jetty and took group photos there.

Group Photos from my camera.  I'll work on a ride report later.

I didn't take any photos at dinner.
