Toora RTE 27th November 2021
I set up the bike ready to travel on Thursday, ready to travel at 8am Friday. Left home at 8.03am.
A very slight mist in the air, which cleared about 30 minutes later. Strong gusty winds.
I took a few backroads from Warrnamboolto near Geelong, throgh Darlington, Derrinallum, Lismore, Cressy,
Inverleigh, just to avoid traffic, but caught up with some roadworks which slowed my trip by a half hour
(3 by stop and wait 10 minutes for oncoming traffic, one lane) Weather was dry and warm all day.
The run from Geelong to Melbourne was uneventful, normal late morning traffic, reached the Westgate Bridge at a few minutes before midday.
And then the trouble started. Got caught on the Monash Parking lot at Glen Iris.
It took two hours to travel to Narre Warren from the Westgate, 50km, normally a one hour trip. Refuelled at Narre Warren, @ $1.89.9 cents per litre!
Around $40+ for 21 and a half litres!
Made good time after that, arrived at Rustys a few minutes after 3pm. We had a yap, then went shopping for some christmas goodies for Sues sister at around 9pm. Couple of hours drive there and back.
After a good nights sleep, we left for the RTE a bit after 10am, a little over an hour away.
Unsure which route we took, as I just followed Russ.
Was really good seeing so many ST's arrive, and we all gathered outside for a yap, and jam allocation, etc.
Fantastic to catch up with so many friends. We moved inside for lunch at around 12.30pm.
Service was great, food was great, (Except I had far too much on my plate, even tho it was a kids meal)
I decided to leave at 2.30pm.
Return trip was a lot sweeter than Fridays parking lot, I avoided the Monash. 2 Hours from Cranbourne to Waurn
Ponds with a refuel near Lara, and the sun was in my eyes, making travel difficult.
Had to pull over around Colac, as I could not see the road. Once the sun was below the horizon, it was much easier
to see, and maintain a reasonable road speed. Arrived home around 9.30 pm.
Total distance covered 1194 km. Many thanks to all who attended. Great to catch up.
