It never rains but it pools huh...
Cyclone 1 yet to form and therefore be named but the next name on the list is Hadi
Cyclone 2 Cyclone GillianFor those who don't know a lot about Cyclones, here in the Southern Hemisphere they rotate in a clockwise direction which means as a general rule below the cyclone moisture is drawn from the ocean and dumped on as rain below the cyclone.
If the cyclone moves south because of the clockwise rotation it now draws hot air from over land back out to sea. And so the cycle goes.
What does this have to do with Ballarat? well it's all about our preparations for Ballarat. As we are about to leave we have a cyclone bearing down on us from the east and although another from the north, it's the rain depression that will hit us some time later in the week from that cyclone.
So what's our decision? Do we stay or do we go? Well considering a lot of Money has been spent in preparations we will continue our packing and preparations due to the unpredictable nature of Cyclones.
Our home has gone through several cyclones before up to Cat 3 so while it's a cat 1 or 2 we're not overly concerned as geographically we're around 25 K inland, so tidal surge isn't an issue. If the Cyclone is imminent at our departure time we will wait for it to pass and if that delays us a day or 2 then we'll adjust our route and itinerary.
Other than that, the house is prepared, all loose items have been secured, the bore shed has been bolted down, the washing line will be removed before we go. Garden Hoses are away in the shed, lawn has been mowed (to allow water movement through the yard)
Cross fingers it goes away.
Cheers
Sabie
