Pete left Dubbo around 2 hours ago, heading towards ... mmm ... who knows where? Bit of a ziggety zaggety course for today but maybe heading towards Bathurst again? via a different set of roads.

11 am location. A couple of things I vividly remember about the Singleton/Muswellbrook area, was the stench of coal mining as I rode through, and the Blue Heeler monument in the main street of Muswellbrook.
Pete will miss that tomorrow as he is travelling a different route to Walcha.

It was a GREAT ride today.    The road from Bathurst to Lithgow via Tarana was very rough in places,  with the occasional rim smashing pothole, and was a challenging ride with the sun in my eyes.   The rest of the day on Bells Line and Putty was fantastic and gave me a chance to work on my chicken strips.   I stopped for a coffee and a chat with other riders at Grey Gums Cafe and was saddened to hear of the death of a rider a couple of days ago.  I am in a budget cabin and have a chance to catch up on laundry,  dry the tent,  and get all my stuff charged.   Looking forward to catching up with some of you tomorrow.    :thumbs

Good stuff.  I didn't go that way on my big trip a couple of years ago.  Did you get photos of the Big Panner at Kelso and the Big Miner's Lamp at Bowenfels?  I didn't stop at either but the camera on the back of the bike snapped both as I rode past.

I did get the big panner with me in an OzSTOC hat,   but not with the bike,  as I would have needed an off road bike,  or stopped in a bad spot on the highway.

Pete - there has been 4 riders down in the Hunter Valley in the last week. Not sure of your route tomorrow but if your coming thru Dungog watch for massive potholes either side of Dungog, and rough roads with pothole patching on top of pothole patching >:() :fp :OldMan
