Hey Pete,

Did your tyres wear on the centre of the tread or on the sides?

If on the sides, I reckon you need to increase the pressure you are running at.

I’m running mine at 43psi.

As I listen to the rain thundering down outside., it appears that Pete reached todays target around 20 minutes ago.
A good days ride, around 800 Km.

They wore badly in the centre on 42psi. The previous set that I replaced in Warwick QLD were doing that same and I dropped the pressure to 39, which took some of the load and off the middle, at the expense of some scalloping in the sides. However it did slow the wear in the middle.

I left Karratha at first light, and it was good to get on the road to put some decent miles behind me again after twiddling my thumbs for a couple of days. It has been a beaut day for travelling, but there have been plenty of cattle on the roadsides all day. I only stopped for fuel and a couple of photos today, and tonight am in a clean and cheap donga with a comfy bed and nothing else. The place has masses of very friendly flies, and the roadhouse closes at 5.30, so it will be an early night tonight, and a chance to do some reading. I will be in Perth tomorrow night, staying with WAG, and am working on my itinerary for my last few days. My brother is going to drive over to Streaky Bay to meet me and escort me home, and another friend plans on meeting me at Port Augusta. These are lovely expressions of support, and I am deeply touched by this and the other friendship, support and hospitality that has been offered to me on this adventure.

Petes location around 10 minutes ago. Spots are about 10 minutes apart, so he should have arrived at Geraldton.

We shall see his route south soon enough. If he takes Indian Ocean drive then I can try intercept, if he uses the Gt Northern then not so much as I'm not going back to Bullsbrook (I am here at work at teh RAAF Base at the moment)

Google is prone to error... A trip of mine a few years ago, they claimed would take an hour and 5 minutes for a 94km run.
(I was home and in the door in 38 minutes)
