Many years ago I was part of a parachuting demo team at Minnipa, (annual Adelaide to Minnipa Air race venue) east of Streaky Bay.
At the end of the day we flew to Streaky and bought crayfish direct from the boats, and cooked them in drums of water on a bonfire. In the morning, we flew back home to Whyalla, munching on crayfish and tossing the empty shells out the window.

I sometimes wonder what the farmers in the area thought, if they found the discarded shells, as to how the hell they found their way into their paddocks, more than a hundred Km from the ocean?  :grin

I spent the day timing my riding and stops to avoid the storm cells that were rolling through all day, and in the main was quite successful. While there were decent photo oportunities at the head of the bight and various lookouts,  soft ground after heavy rain kept me on the highway. I made good time as I raced the storms and rolled into Streaky earlier than I expected,  and met my brother who drove out from Adelaide to meet me.    :beer

Tomorrow isTumby Bay via Port Lincoln, and Saturday I plan on being at Port Augusta OTR EastSide at midday, before the final run to home.

Pete will be on the road tomorrow on the last stretch of his epic run.
Morning run to Port Augusta.

Meanwhile, Bodø will be heading to 'Portagutta' early morning, to meet with Pete and ride back home with him in the afternoon.
Will track when his spot becomes active.
(Having been born and raised at Whyalla, 'Portagutta' is a slang term that we used as I grew up, referring to the number of Indigenous people who lived there.)

Refreshment/fuel break/meet up at OTR Port Augusta east,

I had a short run today in good riding conditions.   We stopped at my fishing haunt at Elliston for morning tea and at Port Lincoln for lunch.  The caravan park at Tummy Bay is very nice,  and the local pizza is so good,  it may be worth An overnight RTE.   I am not sure of the servo that Kev has nominated but I will be at the Port Augusta East Side OTR/Maccas on the corner of the highway and Northern Power Station Road at around midday.   Seeya there Bodo.

Yep, Pete... the one I put the picture of is on the north side of the highway, just 500 metres west of there.
Google street view show the one next to Hungry Jacks (not Maccas) as still under construction two years ago in 2017.
