Title: Brake Pads - Sintered or Organic?

What is the difference between Sintered and Organic brake pads?   :popcorn
What is recommended for the ST1300?

Metalgear list organic and sintered options. From my own experience sintered do have a bit more bite and work well in the wet. Organic are kinder on the rotors and last ages, and work well in road use.  I replaced the OEM rotrs on the ST1100 at around 100,000kms after using sintered pads. The replacemnet metalgear rotrs have done 115,000kms with no wear, and the organic pads that came with the rotors lasted nearly that long.

I've just gone through looking at this a few weeks ago for my own bike's pad replacement.

But you forgot Ceramic which are supposed to be the better ones. The type you choose depends on your use and I have had no issues with OEM pads either. I'll bring the Goldfren ones to Melrose on Saturday as I haven't fitted them yet.

I ended up buying the ceramic ones for my 1100. Some of the guys over on my-mc-phoenix.com and on our site use them use them without issue.

This is where I got mine from which just happens to be a bike shop which is just around the corner from our member Keith3po in the UK.

I've had sintered on the 1300 for around 35K. Fairly soon I'll be going back to genuine. From the states they are just under US$35 a set. Gen are cleaner on the rims and while the sintered work well, I don't use them to their full capabilities, cause I'm too old to be a boy racer.
