Title: Tinted Front Blinkers
Post by: ruSTynutz on January 05, 2021, 11:35:22 PM
I toyed with the idea of fitting some clear/tinted front blinkers on my ST1300 a couple of weeks before Christmas.

I found some on Amazon at what I thought was a reasonable price so placed an order.
With them most likely coming from China I fully expected them to arrive in a month or two.
Well, they turned up yesterday and today I fitted them... :thumbs

While I had the blinker shell off on the right hand side I also replaced one of the spring clip thingies that had one tang broken off when I'd bought my bike.
Thankfully it was one with enough access to just squeeze my finger in behind to hold the nut in place while I swapped the broken one out for a newie...

It was all pretty straight forward swapping the blinker units over...the only issue being the hole for the globe housing.
This needed to be filed into shape so the globe housing would actually fit. This was expected though as I'd read reviews pointing this "fault" out.

All in all I reckon they look okay... :runyay

Now, hopefully the rain will clear so I can give my bike a bath and wash all those splattered bugs off...  :whistle

Hey Rusty, nice upgrade. Although I would be more inclined to call them ‘untinted’ front blinkers.  :grin

You can also get a replacement blinker bulb for it that will light up with white during normal riding and flash yellow for the blinkers. I fitted them and so did Shiney and some others. Being from China they too are cheap.

Cheers Steve... :thumb

They are definitely tinted...I actually think they match the tinted screen quite well! :grin

I've read about that "farkle" (and read reviews) that you mentioned but, to be honest, I wasn't really interested in doing that as I don't want even more lights on during the day.
In fact I'm looking at installing a "headlight" switch in the not too distant future...  :whistle

Fair enough!  So I take it you are a 'headlights off' kinda guy.

My ST, being white, already has such a switch.  But being a 'lights on' type I only use it by mistake  >:()

Yep, much rather have the choice of when I have the headlight on.  :grin

As it stands, I'm looking at a switch to cut power to the low beam relay, at least then I'll still be able to flash my high-beam light as a warning to others when I see a speed camera...  :whistle :rofl
