Title: Driving Light Options
Post by: alans1100 on September 03, 2018, 05:26:48 PM: Looking at either of these for the 1300 since I have the police light mounts. Bought them off of Lindsy GT when I picked up the 1300.

Still have some 4 inch 55W HID in mind as well since they work so well on the 1100 but a lot more expensive than 4 years ago.

Whew! Might be more your budget than mine!
The association with the ST1100 would appear to be incidental. Clearwater make a range of expensive LED driving lights that can be put on any bike with appropriate mount points.

At that cost does the bike come with them? Give them a miss I think.

Either way I like mine, by default.....and the default is power consumption and physical size ;-*

I don't believe LED's & HID's are the pick of aux lighting.....the higher Kelvin rating of 4,000k plus is a PITA on the more travelled roads that we as Road Bike riders tend to use....more traffic means more road signs, and more road signs is more glare from these signs when using LED/HID often to the stage you need to drop to low beam.

If Size & Power consumption (amps) wasn't an issue (AND IT IS) on our STig we would have the same awesome 24V/250W Halogen driving lights as on our car. ;-*

The yellow slip on filters weren't available when I bought the Krista 2's or the Darla's....I have the yellow covers for the flood 3486 Lumen LEDS I use as spreads under the mirrors....they help a little with glare from fog and road signs, but seam better at ppl seeing you than you seeing.

At 10 bucks a pair, I thought how can I go wrong, and I didn't. They're not spotties, but damn good lights for the bucks.

Do you have the police version? ... what toggle did you end up using for the insulator for the spotties/floods?
