So they tell me Couch,  I began motorcycle touring in New Zealand back in the 90's. And have returned there quite a few times. Because it was cheaper to go there and hire a bike than to go touring the SE of Australia, at that time.

I have a pair of Motorbike boots from Aldi. Have had them for a while now and I like the support they give my legs on longer trips. I don't wear them for shorter trips.
I bought a pair of Redback walking boots when I was in Goulburn one time. They are really well made and comfy and are Aussie made and I tend to use them on shorter trips 100k's or more?

Well my DriRider boots finally got comfy......now being the next day, there buggared  :well

So in the market, I like long boots.....with ankle and shin protection with a GP type sole you can walk in when off the bike....they are worn some days for over 12 hours and need to as waterproof as possible, I have cold feet so vents etc not needed  :whistle

Forma and Rossi are leading the charge at the moment, any other contenders I should consider ?

Thanks Rob, that is great buying.......the P134 are on my to look at list along with the 811 Vision, and about $120 cheaper than I can buy locally even with their freight cost on top.  :like

Chris,

I wear TCX S-Zero boots [discontinued  :-[ ] (Makers of BMW Motorad boots).  They are Comfortable as soon as you put them on.  So comfortable that I would wear then to work and forget to change into my Safety boots, walk around work all day and ride home again.

They have very good shin, ankle and little toe protection and are definitely waterproof.  They all so keep my feet warm all year round (I have poor circulation in the feet, so it's important).

On the expensive side, but you get what you pay for.  I'll definitely be having another pair of TCX.  :grin

Here is a link to the TCX Boots Range at Revzilla where you can see reviews of the individual boots.

This cut-out in the toe guard allows for flexing while walking.

I wear Rossi boots...zip sided with a velcro weatherproof flap... these ones are a couple of years old, now... and still covered in bugs from my last evening ride. Will give them a clean and polish later today, they are still damp from this mornings venture outside.

There we go... a bit more presentable.... by the way, those non-scratch pot scourers are great for removing bugs, prior to aqua proofing with Dubbin...

I extend the life of my boots with Selleys' Spred Sole.

It's not cheap at $14.20, but you get enough for a lot of applications.
The rear edge of the heels is the first thing to go in my boots, so that gets the treatment.

3 pairs of Rossi boots in this house all fell apart within 5 years of purchase, comfortable boots but not happy with the quality. All three pairs had the polyurethane in sole disintegrate completely. I now have Forma boots which are very comfortable and waterproof.

Have posted these before. These boots are 30yrs old. Hand me downs from my brother who bought a new pair and I didn't have a 'proper' pair of bike boots. they have had 5 new soles and 6 heels fitted and are still doing the job well. did come off with them on in my early days of riding and had the left boot trapped between the gear lever and the road. The boot tore open along the side seam and I only suffered heavy bruising. got them stiched up and good as new. Had them so long they have to same status as the family dog and they don't eat my socks.

Rossi - Aussie made can have Rossi resole and repair for less than half replacement cost. Waterproof and good for walking in. Also have a pair of Johnny Reb originals for short rides when I just want to pull on a pair of boots quickly.

Funny you should mention effects in the tropics..we had a stock of boots at work that had sat for some time and when we opened the boxes the polyurethane soles had dteriorated badly and the uppers wers perfect. It's not an uncommon thing, the missus had a pair of expensive hiking boots do the same thing because they hadn't been worn for a while. The Rossi boots however just disintegrated despite being used regularly. As forgetting them resoled it's a bit hard when you are on a ride 1500kms from home and they fall apart, easier just to buy a new pair of boots.
