Note Below from the Park Managers

we have two good hotels in Blackheath which are approximately a 10 minute walk from the Park.  The Ivanhoe Hotel would most probably suit your group very well.

The Park is undergoing a series of fantastic upgrades; many of which we hope to have in place by the time your group visits.  Consequently we will keep you informed as to changes in accommodation as information comes to hand so that members are able to change or upgrade accommodation styles accordingly.
The Park is also in the process of being re-branded...it was previously called the Blackheath Caravan Park, however is now called the Blackheath Glen Tourist Park.
There are a number of “unfavorable” reviews on the web about the Blackheath Caravan Park and the previous managers of the Park.  Please disregard these as we have a brand new team; a completely new direction and fresh attitude and outlook.
We look forward to seeing you and your members at Blackheath!

Kind Regards,
Benita Clark

We have Organised a  Saturday ride for lunch, we even have a special guest or two coming to visit us as well!

Guess we won't be seeing you two a fortnight later at FarNat then fellas?  Money only stretches so far and FarNat (27-29) was locked in about a week ago and I have committed to that so I'll be an apology.

Pity it wasn't a week later so we could have made a ride of it over the week, but have fun fellas.

I should be there. Planning to possibly do Sat and Sunday nights.  Farnat is still a possibility also depending on the final location (based on the hints I have seen)

Lock me in Eddie. 13, 14. I'm bring a mate who just recently got a ST1100, then we're planning on heading back down the coast. Taking a week from work, so I can't wait

I've booked...I just got off the phone to them.

ONE CABIN LEFT

Get in quick, they said they are rebuilding and may have more by the time the meet rolls around.

I have been on the Phone with Blackheath, There will be plenty of Cabins  THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF BEDS

There are 8 Cabins that are getting replaced between Now and Then, So go ahead and book

What they will do is Take your Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and make a Provionsal booking, if and when what cabins will get changed they will advise you of what is happening, They are very proactive in making sure we are going to be happy.

There are 4 cabins that are not getting changed 2 of these Diesel and I have booked, that have 2 extra beds in each of them, that we will be happy to put OzSTOC members in and just share the cost.

THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF BEDS

Remember Ladies and Gents with all the new Faces around here, that we will have members who want to come along from Various places, so if your wanting to come along, and don't want to do the run alone, post where your coming from you might be able to tie in with some one else making the run to Katoomba from your area.

Last Saturday (22nd) I took a run up to Blackheath to check out the caravan park for our proposed national meet next April.
Below are pics of the place together with a printed map:

Cabins 1-9 are to be removed, while 11-14 will stay. 41-49 are powered camp sites, with 50-57 being the "new" cabin area which will hopefully be ready when we get there next April.
Sites 15-32 are van sites with ensuites.

Main entrance.

Cabins 11-14 - these are already booked by some of us

The un-powered tent sites just below the cabin area

B-B-Q area adjacent to the tent sites in the previous photo above

This is where the new cabins will be situated, opposite the powered tent sites.

The Blackheath swimming pool is opposite as well as a children's playground (for the kid in us :))

The park itself is set back about 3 blocks from the highway so we shouldn't get much traffic noise, but we may hear the frequent trains passing through

I also did a recce of the most favoured eateries, and the winner (IMHO) is the New Ivanhoe hotel, going by the number of customers. There is one other pub just down the road about 200 metres called The Gardiners Hotel. Prices all seem to be under $20 for mains for both places, with the former appearing to be a little more modern in appearance both inside and out.

There are also numerous cafes, take-aways, pie shops, a Chinese restaurant and small grocery shops dotted along two streets.

If we plan to walk to the pub for main meals, it's all uphill, but if we  :beer it wont be so hard on the legs to stagger back :thumbs.

Just so you're all aware, there are (at the moment) numerous road-works going on east of Blackheath which could make travel quite slow.

Speed limits, like most built up areas, are set at 50 k's, 60 along the highway in the town and 80 k's outside these areas.

If you're travelling along the Bell's Line of Road I can thoroughly recommend the Tutti Fruiti between Kurrajong and Bilpin for a pleasant coffee and berry flavoured ice cream stop

City $ for fuel (both petrol & diesel :rofl)

No Marcus - we would need two and a half weeks for that, but, alas time is not on our side.

Maybe Lifeline can give you the extra time you need.         :p

Just tried to book, But they said not to ring till march as the new cabins should be in by then. They will be more expensive they reckon. They said they cant take anymore names as they have nothing to book those names against.
Cheers

I have rung and spoken to them, there was a slight communication issue with a staff member, problem has been sorted, they are taking bookings and as the new cabins go up, they will ring and allocate them to people, i stay in pretty good contact with them so i am pretty well in the loop.
