My Trip to The Supermarket
« on: March 27, 2020, 10:30:46 PM »
It was a glorious day today so, with me expecting a "lock down" at any moment with the Covid 19 virus I thought I'd better make the most of it...

Sue had sent me off with instructions to grab a few things at the Supermarket so, as she hadn't said which Supermarket, I thought I'd make my way to Foster...
I have an Aunt & Uncle living there so thought I'd pop in to see how they were coping, well that was my excuse...

Unfortunately they weren't home...which, depending on how you look at it, was actually a blessing as it gave me more time to do a bit longer ride.
First stop though was the Supermarket which, fortunately had the couple of items that Sue had requested.
From there I headed to Toora...

View From The Lookout Overlooking Toora

My next stop was just up the road at the Toora Wind Farm...

The cattle seem to be "fans" of the ST... :whistle

My next stop was Agnes Falls...

To be continued...

My Trip to The Supermarket...Continued
« Reply #1 on: March 27, 2020, 10:32:49 PM »

Time was getting on so I headed off to my next destination, Port Welshpool...and more particularly the Long Jetty which was recently restored.

Time to head for home...

I stopped off at Foster again and this time the rellie's were home.
A quick chat making sure I kept my distance, and then I was off...
A text message came through just out of town and I figured it was probably Sue wondering where I was.
I couldn't be bothered stopping to find out. Instead I had a brainwave...I had my Sena intercom turned on as I'd been listening to a bit of music so thought I'd try making a phone call, something I'd never tried since buying the intercom last Xmas.
Fortunately I'd set Sue's number up in speed dial and with Sena voice dial, It was actually simple and she was a bit surprised with my call.
I was quite impressed with the call quality as well!  :thumbs

With me back in the good books I made good time and arrived home just in time to cook dinner... :fp

I may not have covered many kilometres but I had a very pleasant afternoon....Hopefully it's not the last one I get to do for a while!

Cheers  :beer

Love it.  I'm just back from a mountain loop with an ex-STOwner who now has a brand new FJR1300 with just 9km on it when we left.  I was shopping for roadside honey because the shop-bought stuff includes fake honey from- you guessed it- China.
I note (since I also ride a V-Strom and see their posts) that they won't approve any ride reports because their philosophy is it's a lockdown.  I'm not convinced we're there yet, especially if we hardly get off the bike and maintain our 1.5 metres minimum.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks all, yes, it's confusing days when it comes to what you can and can't do, talk about mixed messages from our Leaders!  :||||

I did hear Daniel Andrews say this morning though that it was okay to go for a ride...
I think he may have been referring to bicycling but I'll take that as also including motorcycling....Hey, it works for me!!!  :rockon

Oh, and Biggles, don't get me started on fake honey... :whistle

I didn't know you rode a V-strøm, and I read their posts too.  I don't recall seeing not approving ride reports, just not organising anything.  They did say they'd delete anything mentioning words like "Chinese virus" though.

I'd decided to buy a V-strøm in 2015, walked in my local bike shop, saw a Kawasaki Versys and changed my mind on the spot.  The rest is history.

I don't get what is wrong with calling it a China Virus, after all, it originated there didn't it? :o

Yes, we are quite pathetic really - it has been ok to call the Spanish Flu  -- the Spanish Flu, for the last century, even though it is highly unlikely it originated from Spain.
However, whilst this latest viral problem originated from China - we mustn't upset the party machine in Beijing. Fair Dinkum!!

Surely a solo ride on a motorcycle is the ultimate in self isolation.  :whistle

I managed to get another ride in yesterday (Monday) before stage 3 came in.  :grin
Just a short loop of sorts but quite enjoyable, especially along the coast between Cape Paterson & Inverloch.
The sun was shining, the ocean looked beautiful and life was great, well, for a while anyhow...
