MYST's first IBA Outing
« on: May 24, 2014, 11:42:15 PM »
After a week of farkling including Helibar Risers, A McCruise and an install of a spare Starcom MYST had his/her first test run today along with the FarRide to Lake Cargelligo accompanied by OX-34 on his S10. Left Newcastle 3am, down through Yass.... nah too long, spot link if yer' interested.
https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=9dce53809642ec584

1640kms on the clock for the day.  A great day out including the gravel road section between Nymagee and Hermidale. The ST is surprisingly capable in the dirt even at 85kph on PR3's, except when Kangaroos jump across in front of you when all you can do is tighten your sphincter and hope it gets out of the way because steering and stopping's not going to happen (it got out of the way). I also found out the mirrors detach when smack a rock in the road really hard (well one does anyway). But it went back on easily so it must be a feature  :whistle.

On the tar.  With the improved ergs, the airhawk on the stock seat and the McCruise it was so easy to munch miles I almost felt guilty.  The ST is dead set the easiest way I've ever done an SS1600K. Two pics

Good one Craig  :like We to went through Ungarie yesterday on way back.......Ungarie famous for its $5 all you can eat buffet Breakfast at the Bowling club on a Sunday morning.....according to the Sicman  ;-*

The detachable mirrors are a 2 fold design safety feature added by Honda on the ST1300, they auto detach in ruff going and hang down so you can now visually see how big the potholes are that you are dropping your back wheel into and if the sun is in the right location warn following and approaching riders by means of a signal mirror of the imminent danger on the the road surface ahead......progressive thinkers in the Honda R & D section  :-++  :fp

Great to see you mate

The old Sphincter pucker moment, brings the heart to a sharp rise and you know you are alive. We have possibly all had these.....not sure I would like one on a dirt road though  :eek Glad to see you enjoying the ST  :thumb

1,640 km not a bad days ride, I think I will stick to the 1,000 km to Cooroy next weekend

The mirrors were perfected on the 1100, a very handy feature that tell you when the cars are to close together when riding between them (so I am told). Its a good idea to make sure the tether is in good condition .

Craig the culvert upgrade you show in first pic is one of many gradually being done on the Goldenfields way between Temora and West Wyalong. They are changing them over from 20 tonne to 62 tonne culverts to handle the new heavier weight limit trucks soon to be seen on this road.

Hoo boy!  Just what I don't need!  More road works so the trucks can be bigger.  Lose/lose.

Thanks everyone.  I though the photo of OX stopped at the red light was funny, you don't often catch him like.  Didn't even know what a culvert was. Looking back at my certified/pending IBA rides this first on MYST was my 10th SS1600K and my 35th or so 1600K+ day ride and I still maintain it was the easiest.  I'm really looking forward to stretching the ST's legs on something really challenging, which is the whole reason I bought it in the first place  :think1

You don't see its creator on this Forum any more, but those who remember Gateman know the aux tank's builder.  It replaces the ST13's rear seat and extends the range considerably.  A demo of how welding should be done, among other achievements.

Good one Wom. Don't tell the Feejer riders how easy it is on Honda in the Wild Blue Yonder - especially that one on the S10 - let 'em think what legends we are....    ;-*
