Title: G'day
Post by: niftynev19 on May 15, 2019, 09:24:14 PM
Hi everyone, I'm north Brisbane based. Had my 2013 ST1300PA for nearly a year now. Thought i would join a forum and maybe get out on some rides with others on these awesome bikes. thanks.
I found Police white to be pretty full on, so added some colour to my ST. Maybe add some uniqueness as well.

Welcome Nev!  From another North Brisbane owner of a police white 1300.

Nice paint job, and very distinctive.

There’s a ride out to Esk planned for Saturday if you’d like to come along and meet some weirdos.

Welcome Nifty.  Colour scheme not my choice, but perhaps I shouldn't criticise or question anyone's preference, my ST1300 is currently black & red.  From pic looks like a professional job.  Is it vinyl or a spray job?

Welcome Nev from another 'northsider'. You will be a standout at any RTE you attend that's for sure. A few of us generally meet at BP on the highway at Burpengary and ride out together.  I can't make this Esk ride but I'm sure we'll catch up one day. Cheers.

Hi NiftyNev.  There are a few of us like the Police White because of the immediate attention it garners from the tin-toppers.  They can't see red or black, but there's a certain threat conveyed by the white that makes them look twice.
Welcome to the fray!  And don't be afray-ed to ask questions.

Hi niftynev19 and welcome to OzSTOC from up near Mackay.    :hatwave

  Firstly, great looking STeed....

Ourselves, Shiney & Gadget have organised some Qld RTE's (Ride-To-Eat... drive yourself or ride your STeed to a cafe, meet up with other OzSTOCers, eat nice stuff  :EatCake, drink lotsa coffee, head home, repeat when the next RTE rolls around)... and at a Maryborough members' suggestion, we're coming your way... http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13201.0 (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13201.0)

... Cheers, John&Kate.

Thanks for the Welcomes.
A bit more about the bikes paint scheme. The blue is just a vinyl wrap. Looks good from a distance and or passing by quickly. If you look at it closely it is very easy to tell.
I did intend to wrap the whole bike. But for anyone who hasn't tried working with this material. It's not that easy to work with and bike fairings aren't straight and flat.
But it was cheap and it made the bike look a bit different to a total white ex police bike.
I tried to live with the white but found people just slowed down too often in front of me when they saw me in their mirrors. Must be a reflex action. :)
I love that colour blue as well. I'll probably paint it one day in the future. But for now it's what it is.
Reason for buying a ST1300.
My first reason was Price. Ex police bikes were going for a much better price than an BMW 1200GT
2nd reason. I wanted a big touring bike to do bigger rides and I like big bikes and its a Honda.
3rd reason, it was a single seat bike form the get go. So cheaper reg in QLD. So my fitted my budget.
Previous bikes. 03 Suzuki Bandit 1200S and a 87 Honda VFR 750 Rothmans Gardner Paint job.
I won't be able to make tomorrow's RTE at Esk. Maybe next time.
Favourite rides around North Brisbane are over Mt Mee up through Kilcoy back around to Mt Glorious and back home through Samford.
Another common ride for me is up north on the highway to Nambour, then back to Brisbane via Mapleton, Montville,Malany, Peachester, Woodford and then Mt Mee, Petrie.
Cheers, Nev.
