EBC Brake Pads anyone?
« on: October 10, 2012, 10:33:46 PM »
There is a guy on the Honda PanEuropean Owners Club in the Uk who is also a bike mechanic.

He sells EBC pads for ST's and I've had some from him in the past. I get full 3 x caliper sets. The rear pads I get are for bike equipped with ABS and are the ones that fit the Goldwing and are a bit thicker (not the same thickness as the front as normally supplied).

Anyway, I've been in contact with him, as I'm looking at replacing mine, and he's sent me a quote, see below copy of e-mail;

OK yes I still do EBC pads @£23 a caliper set Assuming your bike is ABS and uses the thicker FA261/2 in rear
3 set pads packed will weigh 1000/1200g so post is £20 so 3 X £23 = £69 +£20post = £89

89 Pounds works out at $139.10 (at today's exchange rate).

The last time I enquired about genuine Honda pads they were something like $120 PER CALIPER, so this is a considerable saving as EBC are excellent pads IMO.

Last time I ordered, I got 4 complete sets (3 x mates at work wanted some as well) and it worked out cheaper postage-wise.

So, what I'm asking is, does anyone else from WA want to go in on the order? I'll give it a week and see, then I'll place the order.

You guys from over east can order your own if you want. I've put Dave's e-mail address at the bottom of this post.

Great offer mate but I use the FA261/2HH on the rear and I couldn't see any on their listings. The only ones I saw + postage would bring the total to about $150 so it might be easier to go with Dave Wilkins' ones unless you can think of another way of doing it?

Regards,

Dave

Anyone around north Brisbane can buy Metal Gear sintered and organic pads over the counter at Brendale- $91.85 for six ST1300 sintered pads.

VERY BAD reports about them on the Honda PanEuropean Owners Club site. Guys there claim that they only last a couple of thousand miles.

Look on the bright side.  If they wear that quickly, they're not going to wear the disk at all.
AND if you multiply it out, and don't mind changing pads every 3000 kays, they're still a bargain.
Especially if they do stop the bike as quickly as you need them to!   :eek
