Title: General comfort
Post by: Andrew_02ST on March 11, 2022, 05:36:14 PM
Hi all,

I've had my 2002 ex-police ST 1100 since 2015. I seldom ride, in part, because I've always struggled with the lacking level of comfort and forward riding position. My only modification from stock is a set of 2.5" Rox bar risers that I've recently had installed. It's offered a little respite but not much. I just find that I lean too far forward, and that after a ride of even only a short distance my wrists are sore and my back is sore. I'm 178cm. Maybe I just have short arms, I dunno, but I'm wondering whether I try one last ditch effort for a comfort / positon improvement, or I sell and buy something else, but  I do love my old girl. Any suggestions on other adjustments such as seat, pegs etc that may assist to upright me a bit. Cheers.

Get your seat modified, this is the difference in height with mine, about 40mm

Easies way is to see your local motor trimmer, and have them re do the seat for you...

And, if going to that effort, see if the saddle can be sculptured to your shape.  There are some nice ST1100 examples on this link - https://day-long.com/gallery/honda/.

I took mine to a marine trimmer, told him to leave 50mm and get rid of the remainder, cost was $120 but that was around 10 years ago

Police bike should have risers already on it

I had a expolice ST1100, am 183 tall and, apart from getting a John Morehouse replacement seat full seat to replace the single police version, no other position mods and could happily ride 1,000ks a day, stopping about every 300ks for a bum break, loved the bike.

I might give MJM at Goulburn a go, seeing as I'm only up the road in Robertson. I suppose I'm rediscovering my passion for the old girl, went to do an ad up to sell her and looked at the photos I took and thought "I just can't".

MJM come highly recommended by a few mates from Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.  Not cheap though, from memory a couple of years back, $650 was the estimate before I put the RDL on the ST1300.
