Streak,

I use this one but after six years of use it needs replacing but I can wait 'til I get rich and get a proper cruise control.

When I bought my ST it had the MCC cruise control on it, however on my Shadow I used a 'Brakeaway' throttle lock. The 'Brakeaway' locks the throttle using friction but it has a lever which is operated by the front brake lever which immediately releases the throttle lock if you have to stop suddenly. I bought it from the States, not cheap but very effective.  Here's a link with more info on them http://www.brakeawayproducts.com/.
