OEM Rear Shock - Two part numbers for pre95/post95 - which is best for 93?

Hi Guys,
I have a 93 ST1100 that I am going to get a new OEM rear shock (mainly for the quick adjustment when the missus wants to join in).
On line, with various vendors, there is the correct part number 52400-MT3-611 for 90-95 ST1100,.
But for the same price with everyone, there is the 52400-MAJ-G01 for 96- 2002 ST1100.

Is there any improvement made with the later Shock assembly, that would make it better than the older original?
Things like is the spring rate higher? does it even fit?

Or do I just play it safe and get the exact part?

Looks like cheapest price is AU$350 (inc freight).

The shocks are the same for all models, including the police models.  Most likely the earlier part number will come up as superseded by the later part number.

I just did a price check at David Silver Spares and 52400-MT3-611 comes out at $US455.90 for 95 and earlier ($320 In US Honda site)

For mine 52400-MAJ-G41 the price comes out at $US384.04. ($320 in US)

Big difference in price.

The spring is replaceable on the earlier model whereas mine is just throw the whole lot away.

The early model police bike has another part number with a much higher price 52400-MY3-781......guessing the spring might be different for the extra on board weight

They might all look the same and fit but also be slightly different in some way.....hence the different part numbers (unless superseded).

Later model shocks are rebuildable and the springs replaceable. I have known of a few redone by RAD in Brisbane with heavier springs. But the rebuilds seem to have a patchy history, with some not lasting that long.

I hadn't picked up that the spring retaining circlip was missing on the newer shocks.
I'm going with the original and will try and order the 54000-MT3-611.
