Lots of lovely farkles on that beauty.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

As I always say- "If only I had room in the shed!"
One strategy that appeals to me is to buy a recent black one and swap the plastic over.  Then I get the best of both worlds and the buyer of mine gets a recent looking bike.   :beer

Yeah. That poor bike needs some excitement in its life.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

Not sure if the seller is really committed to selling.  I have sent a message with a few questions via Gumtree - as there were two mobile numbers in the listing.  Got a message back, dad will be in touch and give you a call.  No call as yet, I have been a bit busy to call back myself, but will give it a go later today.

I'm only interested in the cruise control, and (if I buy) will turn the bike around ASAP, anyone interested in a 2004 Silver ST1300 ABS in excellent condition, done 35K km for less than I pay.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Some ST's might be a case OF "BUYER BEWARE" As I have learned at 199,999 the kilometres REVERT back to ZERO

Good point, very good point, but ............ I reckon most potential buyers would be able to pick the difference between a bike that's done 30,000km or 230,000km.

I dunno.  If it was really well detailed it might be tricky.  What would you look for?

If it's was JD's ST1300, yes it would be tricky.

I reckon there would be some pitting, stone chips etc. on the lower forks, some similar tell-signs under the frame above the rear wheel, and on the swing-arm, general scuff marks on the panels, particularly on the polished surfaces but also on the matt plastics, and on the wheel rims.

I just don't see how you could get to 230,000km without some of the above, and try to hide the evidence, even with a good detail.
