Impex Japan
« on: September 09, 2023, 11:12:11 AM »
Don't know if any here have spotted this place before, I've had a look and can't see it mentioned anywhere. Prices look good and they seem to have a whole lot of stuff. I intend to try to buy some parts from them soon and will give an update on how that goes.

As a sample, here's the main parts page for my '95 ST1100:- https://en.impex-jp.com/catalogs/moto/honda-other/st1100/st1100as-1995-australia-1040.html

Wow!  Finally- I might get that cowling bit I need.  I just ordered it- cost about $25 including freight and could be here in a week!
Many thanks for the dealer details.  I'll report in here how it turns out.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but it seems an odd place with an unusual purchasing system. There are some mixed reviews online but the prices are good and the range is top shelf. As far as I can tell it's a Russian company based in Japan. Fingers crossed eh? I do intend to try to buy some stuff soonish.

Edit:- What was the part you were chasing?

Still looking for the little cover on the RH side of the cowl.  It's the one you remove one plastic clip to get it to come away giving access to the oil filler.
I used Paypal, so hope that gives me some buyer protection.

Exactly!!  That's a great picture of it!  Even got the colour right.  Mine had a black vinyl panel on top of it to match the rest of the cowl, but anything is better than what I have to fill the space.   Interestingly, that price in US$ is about what Impex quoted in AUD, including DHL freight.  Time will tell!

My little piece of cowling just arrived from Impex Japan.  It cost a bit over AU$20, but I'm not even going to think about the cost of freight via Fedex (and they were the cheapest).  They don't offer mailing as an option.  Somehow the Chinese can send stuff from Hong Kong post free.  Impex ordered the part from Honda (after I paid for it) and emailed me when they had received it.  They then lodged it with Fedex when I paid the freight.  The whole process took about two weeks.
So in my experience they are reliable, but expect the pay dearly for the privilege.
Oh, and I misunderstood the freight component, thinking from what I read on their website that freight was included.  I guess that might be what people were unhappy about- I haven't looked for any reviews online.

So how much did Fedex end up slugging you, Bill?  :fp

When I checked the site out earlier I saw you had to pay shipping later so I had been wondering how you managed to get it for around $25 bucks all up...  :think1

Still, even if it cost you $50 or more, at the end of the day it's worth it just to make your ST look complete!  :clap

The postage is what will limit it for me as I'll get hit with remote area delivery with any courier service like DHL etc. That makes a 'small package' (20cmx10cmx10cm 0.5 kg) via DHL go from $19.61 USD/$30.51 AUD to $44.18 USD/$68.74 AUD.......ouch! Regular postage is $21.36 USD/$33.24 AUD and no remote area surcharge so still an option for something I can't get anywhere else, and I guess it's always nice to have options.

I might as well tell everyone it's not for the faint-hearted.  The freight was AU$50, so the itsy bit cost me AU$70.
And it's not the Wineberry red, but the Apple Candy red.  Even though I specified 2005.  The fact is, Honda would be doing very well to have little bits like that for every year and every model, so I'm thankful for what I got.

If it was the part you needed to complete the bike it was worth it, I'd do the same. You might be able to get a rattle can of the appropriate colour at Supercheap Auto, they have all sorts of colours in touch up cans.

I've recently bought some items from these guys and despite the convoluted buying process it all turned out well. I was chasing four of the rubber horns that are fixed to the plenum chamber and draw air from the air box. The price was about 20$ each so $80 and postage was about $40 to Kendenup, 340kms south of Perth. The items got here really fast, only about a week from Japan using normal postage as opposed to the courier services like DHL which would have cost twice as much since I'd be hit with a remote area surcharge.

All in all I'm quite pleased with the result and I'll feel confident to go with them again when I need other hard to source bits for the rebuild.

Just letting you guys know they seem legit.

Good to get the part at least and if super fussy, one can always get it painted by an auto paint shop who can paint match with the rest of your bike, not cheap though.
