do you name your Steed?
« on: December 12, 2014, 04:17:34 PM »
So i am thinking about having a name for my little beastie.

I have asked the kids to help me but they keep coming up with bizaare kiddie type names that are about three paragraphs long.

Feel free to help me name my bike...... she ( i have taken to considering her a female ) is blue, not so young but a steady work horse.

Also feel free to put the name you (or someone else) chose for your STeed.

So far in over eight years mine hasn't been named though I use "She" and a few other female pronouns plus "It" quite often.

The official Honda colour for my bike is Sienna Gold, so since sienna is a brown colour I've called mine Golden Brown, as in the Stranglers song (yeah I know the song is about heroin but riding the ST is sort of addicitve therefore it's sort of appropriate). Since yours is blue you could call it Blue STeel. Pretty obvious and someone else may have used it, maybe someone else will chime in with some other suggestion.

Had that happen in my car . . It ran up the inside of the windscreen and disapeared somewhere above my head . . That was bad enough . . Quick braking out the door  . . Torch . . Hunting . . No joy . . Scary ride the rest of the way home . .

Spalding ..... from the Madagascar movie when the zebra turns around and says "shut up Spalding" (Castaway play on words) as it groans on hot days and after a ride and often the three of us will hear it and yell out in unison ... "shut up Spalding".

Ours is STig......not from Top Gear  :Stirpot

STig is an old Norse boys name meaning "the wanderer".....fitting for a Sports Tourning bike we think  :like

I'm still deciding, and since I'm not a fan of bling I'm a bit reluctant.

However, my kids would like to see my ST called "Red Dwarf" but I'm not sure which character that would make me!.    I'm leaning towards "RedRunner" a play on RoadRunner, with the accompanying graphic.

There's a few Rubys around, mine included.  But mostly when I want to address her it's less of a name that comes to mind and more likely a term of disapproval or affection.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Wyvern is my proud red dragon.

And amazingly, I found a wood-carved statue of a Wyvern dragon for $20 in the Gong's Gumtree ads, cleaned it up and applied some red stain and Buzzingah!!! I have an actual Wyvern and an icon representing my local footy team the ST.George/Illawarra Dragons.
 :runyay :hatwave

And BTW Mother Terese thinks Wyvern the STatue is gruesome and scary - but what can I say - a dragon STatue is always goin 2 b intimidatin' ain't it? Unlike Wyvern the STeed that's STable, SToic and STylish.
