ok not an ST but a GL earlier this year i went up to Scotland and broke down on the first day no drive

and had to come home on the back of a trailer.

Very embarassing

This can happen to your ST if you don't grease it

Anyway i decided to do a bit more work on the old girl because she has been neglected over the years i'm about half way through the work, was going to strip and rebuild the engine until i priced up the parts

forget that.

Best summer we have had for a few years i was riding along listening to some music thinking how lucky am i

then the grinding noise

Most of the work has been easy enough but parts are bloody expensive still a few jobs to do then turn the garage into a spray booth she is going to be GOLD

if all goes well might do the ST1100 next year.

"Gold". Good choice. I suppose it would be boring, but it seems a shame there are so few gold coloured ones. It's a bit like the Honda Blackbird that can be found in almost every colour but black.

No problem, with STs. They should be red, logically.

Thought I would bring this up to date should have done it as I went along sorry for that

anyway taking things apart is easy.

It was going to be a complete strip down and rebuild but when I got to this stage the wiring scared the crap out of me.

So up to know I have changed =

Wheel bearings
Head race bearings
Brake discs & pads
Resealed all brake calipers
Stripped cleaned and re-bushed the forks
Rear shock absorber bush's
New swingarm bearings
Timing belts and tensioners
Rear wheel dampeners
Second hand drive shaft + new seal
I'm sure there's more that I cant think of at the moment.

Had these parts shot blasted and powder coated

Tried to get a few prices for painting but nobody would touch it there are 40 panels so I will have to do it myself which meant investing in a compressor and spray guns.

I have been trying to do some painting but I cant get the garage warm enough boxed everything up until the weather improves when ever that is.

WOW! GREAT (tragic) shots there Keith - considering how flat the surrounding land looks - one can only imagine how many surplus megalitres must be present to raise the water level THAT far!

Back on track

My new knee and back protector arrived at 6.30 this morning

That rear plate comes out for wheel removal

not with a Wing it doesn't.
Pushed it on on my own but I will need a hand getting it off, the table isn't wide enough for the sidestand.

I will have to cobble something together so I can stand level with table.
