Squeeky Brakes
« on: April 04, 2014, 09:31:22 PM »
Hi

Late last year I had the front and rear brake pads replaced due to wear. As they wore in the rear developed a harmonic hum at speed which at low speed was a squeak.

Now the front has developed a squeak as well at low speed, like when you back the bike out of a parking bay and move off around 15 K's an hour. Of course when you apply the brakes it all goes away, the bike brakes normally with no noise coming from the brakes. As I said earlier the rear brakes give off a harmonic hum as you go along even at 100kph or 110kph and stops when the brakes are applied.

I don't know what pads the bike shop put on but it will be on the paperwork at home.

The harmonic hum is starting to get annoying after 8,000 K's and the pads should well and truly be seated in.

Any advice or suggestions on how to fix it?

Cheers

Have a look at the disc surface, and see if there are any little wavy looking dark lines on them. The disc could be glazed. give them a wipe with some fine wetndry paper to deglaze them
