 Hi Butters and welcome.
The coolant level should be checked in the small plastic tank near rear shock (or near rear right head on abs models). If you cannot see the fluid level in the tank because of grime, remove from bike and wash with strong soap and a handfull of fine gravel or granite sand. Shake vigirously for a few minutes and rinse with clean water. Fit to bike and fill tank with coolant. When engine gets to operating temprature the level should be at the upper line on tank, and between lines when cold.

Hi and welcome aboard,

This link will show you how to get the RH cover off to check the coolant on non-ABS versions http://www.pan-europe.utvinternet.ie/owners_manual/maintenance.htm

For the ABS version it's easier to fill if you just remove the maintenance cover and use a funnel. As STeveo mentioned it's just behind the RH side of the motor and there is an inspection cut away in the fairing where the bottle is located. For both items just scroll down two or three pages once the link opens.

For your interest we have a Ride To Eat (RTE) on the 8th December at Naracoorte Hotel which might give you a chance to meet a few of the local SA riders.

Details here http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=2371.msg28706#msg28706

While at the RTE, one of the guys should be able to show you how to remove the panels, its pretty easy to do.  the resistance you may feel is due to the rubber bushes that the locating pins push into.

Welcome Butters.  If you've got an older 1100, just be a bit careful when taking the covers off, the locator studs can get a bit brittle with age.  I don't have too many left holding the left fairing on mine...have to do something about it one of these days

One tip is to use grease on the pins that go through the rubber grommets, makes it easier to remove and put on the panels, as well as reducing the possibility of breaking off the plastic pins (I have a few broken off).  There are also little tabs at the rear that click under the rear tail bodywork.  The coolant tank is not easy to read the level of the coolant unless you jiggle the bike a bit, even then a bit hard.

Hi Butters and welcome to the forum. There are so many talented and knowledgeable people in here, that there would be very little they collectively wouldn't know about your model.
Cheers,
Peter.

There's really only one other worthwhile place on the 'net for help and info about STs, and that's

http://www.st-owners.com/?

It's been going for many years, so has had a lot more time (and bigger population) to accumulate "how-to" posts.

I'm not saying they're aren't other sites, just we're the best two!   ::)
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
